I am in the process of purchasing a commercial Electric Hawaiian Shave Ice Machine.... Been during research for 2 years.....I wanted the best tasting flavors out there....There is a little secret out there that some companies are using (Great Northern at Walmart is just one of them).... They use beet sugar....Here is a little explanation and the website that I am purchasing my gourmet real fruit flavors from.....Most companies use sugar as a thickener.... This gives an over abundance of sugar and is really too sweet.... Hawaiian Five-OH flavors have an ingredient in it to encompass the snow so it does not go directly to the bottom of the cup giving you more of the fruit flavor and less sugar.......

SUGAR ALERT!!..... More and more stores are selling beet sugar because of lower prices. Beet sugar does not work well with flavorings such as shave ice, sno cones and flavored drinks. It gives off a peculiar odor and taste that does not bode well with these flavorings. Only buy sugar that states "Pure cane sugar". If you do not see this statement, do not buy that sugar....
