This A.M. I received a robo call, the second time in 2 weeks, that said it was about a recent business transaction (not a sales call) that we had made. The first time I listened all the way thru and it gave a phone # to call. I didn't write it down. Today I just hung up when it first started. Nobody I know has received it. I wish I had written the # down and tried to trace it. I wouldn't call it back cause I figure it's a scam of some sort. What do you think..have you received it? Thanks

If it were a legitimate concern, you would get an person calling you, not a robo call. Maybe I'm wrong, but I wouldn't respond to a robo call like that.

I thought I'd had them all - over and over. But this one is new to me.

I receive automated calls on my home phone and my cell verifiying transactions that were made on my card.
It will give me the last five transactions and to press 1 if indeed these were authorized by me.
It will describe the merchant (electronics, food chain, online retailer, etc.) and then the amount.
If anything is in question, I would speak to a person in the fraud dept.
I have it set up that way.

What difference does it make and why would you waste time trying to trace it? It was a weird call that didn't pertain to you, you hung up, end of story. I think that the people who listen to that calls like that are more likely to get repeat calls. I think some of the scams are perpetrated by the same goups and they have a way of identifying which callers are more lilkely to let themselves be victimized like callers who listen to the whole message or much worse, callers who actually have conversations with the people who call. There are millions of scams from all over the world so it's highly likely that anyone here got the exact same call.

I was just curious because it was so different than any other robo calls I have ever received. I am always suspicious, by nature, of any robo calls, but I did wonder if it might be about a credit card purchase we had made. That is why I wanted to trace the #. If it WAS important, I would want to return the call..if just a scam, I would ignore it.

call your credit card co and verify . After that go to HSN and buy a call blocker. I've bought 3 so far, gave one to sister for xmas.

Google the caller's phone number (from your caller ID). I went through a period a couple of month ago when I was getting weird calls.
There''s a "report a call dot com website.

I get a lot of calls from strange numbers and I never answer them. I have gotten some emails that say they are
pertaining to a business transaction, and to click on an attatchment or open a file to view ....I delete those immediately . They try every angle to get people to open a file. That lets them into your device.

If I don't recognize a number on my caller ID, I do not answer. If it's important, the person/office will leave a message on my answering machine.
I also have Nomorobo, which stops robo calls after one ring.
Even if I picked up the phone and it was a recording or a person saying it was an important matter, I would never say two words to this person on the phone about my personal business -- not even answer yes or no.
If the caller left a message about an "important matter" and it concerned me enough, I would call back and tell them to send me something in writing, which I would then verify with my businesses.
