Of course there's a difference., DooBdoo. But this thread has now become circular, and when that happens, that indicates to me anyway, a thread has pretty much run its course.

Double standard?
I think they get out of hand, as do the emoticons. That is my opinion, if I am permitted to speak.
It wasn't that they said they didn't like them. They scolded those who posted them and do like them. See?
I could see the scold if one started a thread and then asked people not to post pictures. That is not the case here.
Wookie stated her opinion without the scold.
See the difference. If I may be permitted to speak.

It's nothing personal, but not everyone likes them. I prefer to communicate using words as descriptors.
I really hope no one takes offense, but I feel the same way you do, wookie. No matter who starts a thread, I think the graphics are distracting and a little disrespectful to those trying to read. I've always been clear that I'm not a fan of all the GIFs and pix, and I know that puts a wee bit of a target on my back to say it.
(My apologies to those who disagree.

No need to apologize DooBdoo. I like them and I'm not apologizing for that.
There are many things on the boards I don't like either and I have to just ignore them or put the person who annoys me on ignore. Different strokes for different folks.
No problem! We can still be friendly and agree to disagree.

I agree with both of you.
When my computer was infected with a bad virus, one of the first things I was asked was if I used GIFs. When I said no, I was told they are frequently troublesome.

Scolding is in the eye of the beholder.
A person should be able to give an opinion on something without being accused of scolding.
We are all just trying to participate in a thread together. Just like if we say that all caps is distracting, that is not a scold. Now, if I called someone a name or got personal in the opinion, that would be mean.

You don't have to agree with opinions, but ridiculing is not very kind -- since we are all talking about acts of kindness.
ITA in ANY subject..

Indeed. As one who has been accused of scolding many times
I saw it as a scold. If you didn't difference of opinion. And make sure you know which posts were considered scolds.
