Just because someone is a senior citizen does not mean they don't have the means to pay their own bill. Why not contribute that amount to the local food bank where it can actually help people who are hungry and do not have the means to pay?

I don't know her circumstances but there she sat... also gave 20 to a young man, with one leg standing at the end of a ramp on the interstate- who knows what their circumstances are?
Was I right or wrong? I don't know- if we were ripped off, we were ripped off.. I give from my heart- that's just how I am!
Peachysue: You were right!
(cute nic)
Awh thank you, Lesa- it was just something we felt we had to do... the lady took my hand and said, "Now I can help pay for my prescriptions." It was one of those hand holds you could tell she was sincere- I couldn't even speak but I had tears in my heart and eyes- her dog nuzzled my hand as well... and for all I know she has money and was just out doing whatever.. but I am not the one to judge....

Besides , how can you pay for the person behind you when you don't know what they are going to order?
HH - it's simple. You do this in the drive thru line. They have also already placed their order & are waiting in line behind you. The person at the window already knows their order and how much it will cost.
At Tim Hortons or Starbucks - it's usually less than $5.
I don't do it all the time, of course....maybe once a month or so...usually on a pay day or the day I get a nice commission check from a client.

happy, why do you sound so darn bitter? We give both money and food to our local food pantry... It's no one's business who we give our money too or help- you ever think what paying for someone's food might do for them? I don't care if they have the means to pay for their meal or not but when you see a woman on oxygen, in a walker, helped to sit, then by George I'm going to help.... dang and you were a nurse?

Oh yeah, let me add to our kindness so people can get more upset- when we travel at Christmas, I pick out one server and give them a really nice tip, whether they need it or not!!!! Let me step back before the stones are tossed at me!!!!

In this case I agree with HH. Both my husband and I are over 60 and retired. If someone paid my restaurant tab I'd probably wonder, do we look like we cannot afford to be eating out?

That wasn't my point at all and I apologize for not explaining myself farther- there are seniors that eat out, you can tell they aren't as spry as their younger years- why not be kind and do something for them? I mean it's not like the sky is falling to be nice or something- I'll continue with my type of kindness!
