Re: Have You Caught the Fever?

[ Edited ]

I think this article does a good job explaining how to use lures:

http://www.imore.com/how-place-lure-pokemon-go

Essentially, the premise behind the Pokemon games is to catch little critters called Pokemon.  You want to collect as many Pokemon as you can and increase their power.  You can level up through battles with other players (called trainers...ultimately gaining experience to become a master).  You could earn badges along the way with the more battles you win.

When playing on Gameboy and Nintendo several years ago, these other players that you battled were imaginary (built into the game) or sitting next to you in two-player mode.  With technological advances, these battles could take place with anyone you encountered who owned the same game (various versions out there like Pokemon Gold, Pokemon Emerald, etc.) and a cord to connect your Gameboys.  With latest advances, we have this Pokemon Go that can be played on phones and tablets.

Again, the idea is to catch as many Pokemon as you can (hence the motto "Gotta catch 'em all") and increase their power.  Power can be increased by battling other players' Pokemon. Players get excited about meeting new Pokemon.  Imagine a thief who wants to rob unsuspecting players by "luring" them to a location where they could easily be mugged.  Players go to the spot because the Pokemon lure shows up on their GPS.

People post here while at work. Where's your complaint about that?

should be obvious, they're not paying you to post all day at the Q and play Pokemon. If so, tell me where you work at I want on.

I read that playing the game gives whoever access to all your google account info.

I don't know what any of this means anyway.

There are two ways to sign up:  1) gmail or 2) at Pokemon website.  Because the website is overloaded, it's faster and easier to use gmail.  When you enter gmail username and password, it wants to know your birthdate.   There are no privacy statements, so it's assumed the website has access to your Google documents and has the ability to send emails on your behalf and read your emails.  If you have a profile photo or any other photos on your Google Drive, they have access.  It's a concern in the event they are hacked.  Google and Nintendo have made statements that they're working on the issue.

I've read that Android users give the website the ability to also view their contacts.
