No--I'm not into vow renewals. They haven't been broken, so no need to redo them. LOL! I think when we get to one of the "milestone" anniversaries that we'll have a huge party, but they won't include a vow renewal.

I don't begrudge a renewal for those people who want to do it. My in-laws did renew their vows on their 60th anniversary, though. It was a lovely ceremony.

My parents never did a vow renewal, but my brother and I hosted a great party for them on their 50th. When my dad passed away, they had been married 58 years.

I kinda don't understand vow renewals. Maybe if you were separated for a while and are getting back together? Otherwise, have an anniversary party.

When i took them the first time I intended them for life - no plans to change that.

I can't find it, but I remember a joke about a husband who said his vows ... and never made a sign of affection after that ... his wife whined, you never say you love me ... he said, I told you I love you and if that changes, I'll let you know.

The only people I know that renewed their vows after 10 years of marriage ended up divorcing the following year. Not that the events are truelly connected but it made me wonder if some people renew vows because there is a problem in their marriage and they think this will fix it. So my ""experience"" isn't positive.

But this is only my experience and hopefully others will have positive stories. Hope I wasn't too much of a downer.

We're going on 37 years together, so the original vows seem to still be valid.
