if you want to lay the ax to the Billy Graham thread why are you stopping there..........take the ax to the condolence threads, there is mention of god and prayers in those.........and don't stop there, how about when someone here posts they are going through an illness or surgery.........same deal as the condolence threads, people offer prayers.........I don't hear you mentioning those threads, not one mention of them........just this one with Billy Grahams name involved......................................raven

raven, I hope you don't mind I edited out the name at the front of this because I want to direct my thoughts to you without the other distraction.

This is just ONE of the reasons I respect you so much. You are incredibly fair and unbiased. One of the 2 or 3 most unbiased people here.

scottie............as you know I am NOT a religious person and no where on that thread will you see my nick.......but that doesn't mean others can't wish the man a happy birthday in the manner they choose.......and the fact I don't go near the thread means I'm not putting myself in a situation I may not like..........it's pretty much that simple...................................raven

THat is EXACTLY why you are among the 2 or 3 fairest people here (if not THE fairest).

I have seen this time and again.

Offering birthday prayers to a religious figure and exchanging thoughts about religion where nobody is fighting or carrying on is not the same as an ongoing weekly religious thread that was moved to Among Friends. The BG thread will eventually fall down to the bottom and unless someone resurrects it it will be over and done with.

If you object to the religious exchange on BG thread then hit abuse and leave it at that. JMO

I'm not going to hit inappropriate, because I think that button is abused. .

And whining about the uneven moderation is getting tiresome. And is futile anyway.

In fact raven, we could ALL learn a lot from you (and of course I am talking about myself the most).

I'm not going to hit inappropriate, because I think that button is abused. And by the way, Sunala's thread was peaceful. Once in a while Heiress harrassed posters there, but it happened very infrequently.I don't recall any fighting on GJ'S Posts either. People seemed to enjoy her posts, because they were friendly, and uplifting.

I know Sunala's thread is very peaceful and uplifting but it's topic (although meant to be non-denominational and a welcome for all to leave prayer) is still religious in nature. Wishing the Dalai Lama or Billy Graham happy birthday is pretty much a one time deal and those threads are not inviting others to leave prayers. The BG thread may have evolved into discussions about faith but I think there's a difference.

Also the mods can't do their jobs unless someone reports a post. They don't read every single thing written on here.

I think if there were a Happy Birthday Billy Graham thread daily or weekly, it would be different and a better comparison.

I have no problem with GJ's or Sunny's threads, by the way.

i imagine that fighting is against community standards as well.

Aww you are very sweet to say so. However, I do not have anywhere near your patience and ability to walk on by. Wish I did.

The nation has gone overboard with being PC and it's no wonder some of it has spilled over onto the QBB's even when what is being objected to is (for the most part) is not bothering anyone.

Sometimes, whining, as you describe it, is more effective than hitting inappropriate since there is no place to enter why you feel something should be flagged.
