There is said to be advanced treatment.
True or not, only a fool would not want that researched by our scientists.

Noel7, this is a quote from your post. I believe you wrote this. It is kind of confusing since so many people are quoted here. But the comment was that Castro died of malnutrition. Maybe it was Stray who made the comment??

Hi Brinklii
When there is a group of quotes, I try to take out all but the most recent. but I don't know how to do that when I am on my iPad, so they do accumulate.
Yes, that is a quote from me saying I'd never said cure. I hadn't said Fidel died, either, I don't know who did.
I do think it's worth having our scientists look into, do peer review and all. We should always look into studies that suggest advancement on treatments. Leave no stone unturned, so to speak.
ps I bolded the sentence above in red, it was a quote from Stray.
@Noel7, @Yardlie- it was me....some believe he has died....I don't know. There were communications supposedly from Fidel as late as 3/15 but the exile community believe they are written by the Communist paper and State controlled media not Fidel; many Cubans in Cuba revere Fidel and are loyal so they keep him alive? Today, supposedly, Fidel sent communications to Obama. Again, my Cuban friends do not believe it. It was said they were about to announce his death at one time but withdrew the announcement; a Cuban exile with contacts in the Cuban military made the claim. There have been numerous reports of his death in the exile community but nothing official from Cuba. The doctors consulted in Spain stated he was in grave condition, near death at the time of their consultation. It seems that if the President of the USA traveled to Cuba, Fidel Castro would want to meet him?? Raul declared Fidel "unfit" to lead, yet, he wrote a lucid editorial to Obama? I remain skeptical as to his mental state or if he is indeed alive....it is a mystery and we will only know when Cuba releases official news.

Quite possibly neither F. Castro nor President Obama thought there was much point in a meeting face to face, or Mr. Castro might have been ill at that time.
Cuban cancer innovations, some posters seem unaware, have to do with inexpensive preventative treatments--vaccines that seem rather effective as far as the statistics that are available. Of course they would have to undergo clinical trials and their effectiveness established. I just repeat something I posted earlier: Cuban doctors tend to have very, very good training. I know nothing of the treatments of F. Castro but I do know that those who live here are renowned. I had a first-rate doctor trained in Cuba. I have other first-rate doctors, too, of course but this dr, an allergy specialist, really was amazing. He was double board certified in the US.
Fidel was treated in Spain.

@SANNA- the Cuban exile community believe Fidel is dead and communications were written by the tightly controlled Communist newspaper....reports of his death have been reported numerous time throughout the exiled community....A doctor was quoted in the Spanish newspaper here that he was consulted by phone about abdominal peritonitis. The thing is we don't know the truth when you deal with the media from Cuba and what is truth or rumor. I am suspicious that if alive, he is not lucid judging by what Raul stated. We have free press here so we can't imagine this happening here and the rumors may be wishful thinking by some....I really don't know....but, I do believe Fidel would want to meet Obama just for historical purposes, curiosity, if he were alive or lucid. His last supposed communications were in the last 24 hrs.

I really do not care about the details of Castros sickness, G-d will judge him for his deeds.
i wish the Cuban people all the best and great life they deserve. Take it from me , I an from former USSR and we were rich compare to the Cubans.
my uncle who worked on Cuba for 5 years told us that if you wanted you could buy a young a girl for fun for a bar of soap. Lots of foreign sailors did. Russians couldn't , they were watched by KGB.

I have no interest whatever in going to Cuba, but to each their own.

Scanning around, it seems Fidel is still alive, last heard from 11 hours ago. Who knows?
I found several sites that agree there are only 5 Communist countries left:
Communism bombed. NK has a crazy leader, I would be surprised if he even knew what his gov't was.
As for China, there is just too much out there showing they are turning to capitalism.

@SANNA- I think we all wish for the Cuban people to be free....you can speak to life under Communism better than I. I went as a tourist and was taken to the better places which were not good. I felt sadness when I looked into their hopeful faces. I could care less if Castro is sick, alive or dead either...it was part of a thread and part of a convo....it doesn't change the living conditions for the Cuban people either way.

- Socialist Republic of Vietnam

- Republic of Cuba

@Noel7- I think the big difference in China is that you can acquire wealth and a better standard of living but their human rights infractions are hard to overlook.

Stray, thanks for clarifying Fidel Castro's status. I thought I saw a picture of him last week with the President, but maybe it was Raul. Who knows? They look so much alike.

Well I guess Fidel isn't dead - since he just issued a letter denouncing the President's visit.
