What a pig 🐖!! He's also facing trial in California.Hope he spends the rest of his miserable life in jail.

I've been a victim of sexual harassment in the workplace.Thankfully, I've never been assaulted like these women. I understand the power dynamic all to well. I commend their bravery.

We need to make our girls aware of what's out there, but I really wonder how much good that will do when they are confronted with a HW who controls their dreams.

Many of the victims had no clue he was going to pull the stunts he pulled. He'd have a female from his staff in his hotel room when a female was asked to meet with him there. The female thought she was safe because there was another female staff member present and the staff member was dressed in office attire. Victims had no idea this associate would often disappear to allow Weinstein to pull off his shenanigans. One of his staffers testified against him at the trial and had called Ronan Farrow, giving Farrow information he used in his story in the New Yorker. Weinstein would also get keys to rooms and show up, in the dark night, standing above the bed of sleeping victims. They had no way off expecting this. Weinstein also would began m-ing in lobbies of lobbies of hotels, following females as they were walking away from him. He would also reach clear across the table and grab the chests of women that were just meeting with him to discuss work in public restaurants. It is true that many women continued to meet with him AFTER he pulled some of these stunts. They might have been caught between their career and catering to Weinstein, but they did have a choice to ditch him at that point. Many feared he'd have them black balled in the industry. He relied on an entire team of experts to discredit and disgrace Rose McGowan in the public eye so her allegations would not be believed. Anyway, he was adroit in his methods and he knew he could use his position to abuse and exploit.

While I am certainly sorry that the women had to endure what they did, I agree wih those who said that they did play a part in the events. I am pretty sure that EVERYONE has heard tales of the "casting couch," and have heard stories for DECADES about both Harvey Weinstein and Bill Cosby.

If a man with that reputation invites you to his hotel room, did those women really think he wasn't going to expect payment for his help? I am not necessarily blaming the victims, but I am saying that those women made the choice to do what he asked. It was horrible that he had that power, but, no matter how much they wanted to be acting, they had a choice to turn around and leave. Bill Cosby drugged the women (who also knew his reputation and went to his room), but he incapacitated them so they could not leave.

I know it is an unpopular opinion, but I do not agree that the women were helpless. As I said, I am sorry they endured this, but it was their choice. Everyone should take responsibility for their actions.

Your entire post shows that you are.

I beg to differ.  She's saying not everything is black and white, though some would like to believe it is.

Spotlight is shining on rich and famous like Weinstein, Cosby, sports mentors, teachers, religious leaders, family members, politicians, athletes, work situations. It's late and it's little, but I have hope our society isn't sweeping abuse under the rug like it used to. As my MIL said, when she was a girl (she's 84) she had to be able to run faster than her boy cousins and couldn't say a peep or she would cause problems.

Okay, I give up ....  why are you "pretty sure" everyone knew what was going on?   Both Oprah and Meryl Streep praised Harvey when this was going on .... if they didn't know about his predatory acts, I don't think you can assume "everyone" knew.

Staff protect top people and while there might be a few who knew what was going on, it wasn't common knowledge .... in either case.  Cosby had a guy that ran interference with women who were assaulted ... he used both cash and threats to shut them up, assurring them no one would believe them if they went to the police.  Back in the day, the police did nothing.  So, women were often convinced after the fact that nothing would happen, except that they'd gain a reputation as a troublemaker and liar.

My objection to some of these comments is that some posters are using 2020 logic and attitudes applied to how things actually were decades ago.  The victims always got blamed.

What makes you think Oprah and Streep didn't know? Cringe-worthy jokes about his cringe-worthy behavior with women were made at award shows and other Hollywood parties/gatherings, with them and other female power-houses in attendance.  None of them deserve a pass.

@Mindy D  Does Rose McGowan get another chance when he’s tried in CA?

Obviously we don't understand the 'Power of the Big BUT.'

For example, it's like walking up to a total stranger & saying,

"I am not necessarily saying roots are bad,

but you could really use a touch up."
