My husband & I have been looking to adopt an older dog. My problem is we dont pass their adoption rules. Found a little adult male we fell in love with but can't get him. We are both sad. Reason we dont pass is because I have a tiny little ShihTzu who is 13 1/2 & has some health issues & has not been able to take rabies or reg booster shots for several yrs now. The last time she took her shots she nearly died & vet told us we should never give her them again or it would kill her. All the adoption applications you have to show all animals in home are up to date on vaccinations, my town they have to be microchiped & most adoption agreements have you prove your animals are on heartworm & keep them on it. My chow chow is good on all these things but my tiny one cant be. Sorry just sad because I know no one wants to adopt older dogs & that is what we want. I know we will just have to wait till our 2 babies are gone but I just love animals so much & would love to give an older unwanted dog a good home. I know they have their rules & it is for the good of the dogs. Just hate to think some sweet dog will go without the love of a forever home. Don't want my little sweet baby to go to the bridge for yrs & yrs (wish never!) so we will just have to wait.
