Happy Groundhog Day 2022!

I have a special fondness for Punxsutawney Phil and will be up at 5:45 a.m. to watch the festivities! Let's hope he doesn't see his shadow and we have an early spring, but with all of those TV cameras on him. . !

The crowds are back this year, and they are expecting a lot of people.

We get very excited for this holiday in my Kindergarten classroom! I spent a good deal of time yesterday teaching the class about Groundhogs and then Groundhog Day. We took a school-wide vote on whether or not Phil would see his shadow and we made our own class predictions through drawings and writing.

My kids hopped on their bus home excited to see what Phil would "say" this morning. We will find out the answer together when we get into school. I always show the recorded news broadcast on YouTube around 10 AM. They have fun seeing if their predictions were correct.

We had our own g-hog, who was the friendliest little critter! He lived under our front porch. He would come out and take a pecan from my hand ever so gently! He was so cute! He never predicted the weather, however. Least ways not like his kin, P. Phil.
