I truy believe someone or some organization started everyday as

a "special day".  Happy Donut Day, Happy Pizza Day, Happy Coffee Day etc.

Just a marketing ploy and it's just not a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday anymore, I just want a day any day without being what it is.

Today is Oceans Day, so who declared that?

Let's go back to everyday just being an ordinary day.

I respectfully disagree with the OP. I think these celebratory mentions are fun ways to brighten up the days or make us aware of the environment around us. If one dosen't like them, just ignore and move on.

I wish we could have ordinary months. Get tired of _____ being the focus over and over again in so many places (ads, talk shows, products...).

@Mistreatedbycs

For me, "every day" is a happy day, because I am still here. Who started "annual XYZ day" isn't anywhere in my mind. Many seem to enjoy them, so i say, "what the hay"!

Marketing? Right now many businesses need whatever can increase their bottom line, along with employees. If a certain day does that, I see it as a good thing.

Like more important things in life, I don't concern myself with things I cannot control.

Some of these special days are trivial, but today is World Ocean Day which is a big deal for me (and should be for everyone.)  The oceans and all the creatures who live in them, and depend on them, deserve all the help and attention they can get.

The oceans are another thing we humans have messed up badly.
