I'm finding it hard to put a smile on my face today.  My heart goes out to the victims of the massacre at Bondi Beach in Australia and also yesterday at Brown University in Rhode Island.  Today is the 11th anniversary of the deadly shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School here in Newtown, CT where I live.  Always a very tough day.  I want to wish my Jewish friends a very happy, healthy and joyous  Hanukkah.  Let's all find the good in this holiday season despite all the craziness of the world we live in.

That is such a thoughtful post. I just wanted to correct that Sandy Hook was Dec 14,2012.

My first grandog died on Nov 14, 2012 and a friend told me he went to heaven a month early so he could be ready to comfort all the children from Sandy Hook..Heart

I always remember Sandy Hook and we all should too.

I am crying reading about these tragedies again in Australia and at Brown, just imagining the unbearable grief.

I always wish it never happened and never will again but it always does.

I am abhored by what happened in Australia

and Brown and what is "allowed" even here in America at our colleges. Has nothing been learned since WW2 and before? This is what led to the death of 6 million people because people just stood by and listened to mad men. I have watched almost every Nazi movie there is to watch and listened to dozens of testimonials of survivors. I don't understand how people can be so evil. I just had to get this off my chest today.

Re: *Happy Chanukah* *Happy Hanukkah*

I just heard on tv cable news that at least 15 are dead and 40 injured from the attack in Sydney.

In my area you no longer see menorahs in the windows or blue and white lights hanging off their homes.  No one here trusts that they will be safe by doing so.

Plenty of homes have their Christmas lights up and I feel vulnerable now with nothing. Maybe I should buy some Christmas lights and hire a handyman to put them up for me so I blend in, perhaps I will.
