@Desertdi  Many of the amazing skywalkers who worked on the Empire State Building, the Chrysler Building, the Twin Towers, and the Brooklyn  and George Washington Bridges, to name just a few, were members of the Mohawk Nation.

In the post WW2 "building boom"...my dad took me down to The Loop to see them.      di

Re: Happy 95th Empire State Building!

@They CallMe MRWILKES - thanks for the pictures.  Happy 95 anniversary to our Empire State Building!  Wowzee you had to be a special type of person to deal with the height, I  could not, no way no how.

I was born and raised and worked in NYC until retiring earlier this year and never been to the Empire State building and I am sure I am not alone.  I have been there many times in my head watching the movies that have been filmed there over the years.

My neighbor is currently there visiting NYC.  He must be fuming as Spirit Airlines closed down and he doesn't have an airline to fly back home.  Of course he will re-book but so will many others.

Which buildings have a similar design to these two? : r/skyscrapers

"Big John" went up during my childhood in Chicago.  Went to the top and that's when I first discovered, when my legs locked and I couldn't walk to the windows to get a better look at the city, that I had a little issue with heights.

Didn't stop me from going up to the observation deck of the Empire State Building twenty years later...

I never went up in the Willis Tower.  I didn't think that building  was worthy of Chicago's incredible architecture.

I did go up to the Top of the Rock (Prudential Bldg) and ate lunch at Stouffers every time I went down to The Loop.    You can see the Michigan shoreline from there!

Yes, but "John" certainly stood out.  A replica, much smaller and in copper, sits on a shelf in my house today.
