@Pooky1  {{{hugs}}}  I'm sorry about your MS.  That woman demonstrated typical ignorance.

Another round of "I don't have it so why should you" playground immaturity.

Be well.  I understand what you are going through.

@Pooky1  People should mind their own business!  Maybe your wife was afraid of what she would say so kept quiet, lol.

I had a handicapped parking pass due to a hip replacement.  It must have fallen out of the car, as when I returned to the car, it wasn't inside or out, so someone found it and stole it.  I had to apply for another one.

I remember when I was a child and had the hip injury which decades later led to a hip replacement, I was on crutches for a year, and the old Reverend Mother at the school looked at me and said, "you don't need those crutches," imagine, I was nine at the time.  Just because something isn't visible, doesn't mean there isn't something inside going on, as if she would know, she wasn't an MD.

Seriously.

I have never seen a space for people with young children.  Not sure what that is about.  Do moms have a more difficult time wrangling their kids these days?

@GraceLady  They are rare today but still exist.  DH and I just saw one the other day, which prompted me to post about it.

They usually say Reserved Parking for Familes with Young Children.  Or Reserved Parking for Parents with Young Children.

I am not talking about places such as hospitals; these signs are at grocery markets and other retail stores.

Oh brother!  Thanks for explaining.

@GraceLady  Just remembered-it was at a well-known pharmacy chain.  We were there today and sure enough there was the sign.

It's not subject to a fine, though.  Just one of those goody-goody things that takes up a much needed space.  There are 2 HP spaces side by side and this other sign is closer to the door.

Go figure.

First these stupid parents with children spaces at the grocery store should be near where you put the carts. I thought that was the point of them originally. So you can put your kids in the car and just return the cart right there. But my big beef is all these people bringing the entire family to grocery shop in the first place.

When it comes to handicapped parking alos keep in mind that you might not know the entire story. If my father is in the hospital for something I have to drive my mother there to visit. I have to park in the handicapped space and wheelchair her in to his room. Then I leave to go get work done. Go back to get her later and again I park in the handicap spot. Sp perfectly healthy me gets out of the car looking like someone scamming the system. I can't park elsewhere in the garage because I'd have to push her up and down the ramps which would be a little tough.

I have a placard due to muscular dystrophy. My issue is that when walking distances, my thigh and hip muscles get crazy bad fatigued. That said, if the parking lot is flat I will not use a handicapped spot so that someone worse off than me can use it.

If I am a passenger in the car, I ask the driver to drop me near the door to the store and they then go park, and again - we don't take up a spot someone might need more than me (and I'm pretty bad).

What REALLY gets my goat is when I go to use a public restroom and the handicap stall always seems to be in use. Its impossible for me to get up without the handrails so I often have to stand there and wait and wait and wait, while a gaggle of teens or a mother with several children gets done with the handicap stall. I wish that tickets could be issued to people who use the handicap stall when they don't need it for a handicap!

@Pooky1  Right, the Italian temper, that's why she kept quiet, lol.  I have a temper also, but am not confrontational, though the older I get, the more I speak out, don't give a hoot any longer, lol.
