I don't think there are any cons. I agree with your friend, after living with a dishwasher for a few weeks, you'll wonder how you ever did without it.

I have never had a dishwasher, nor do I care to have one. To me, it is another appliance to use up the hot water supply. Those who know I am thinking about remodeling my kitchen have said I should add a dishwasher, but I have no intentions of doing so. My husband washes 98% of the dishes; it is something he enjoys doing, so why waste money for an appliance that takes up space and wouldn't be used.

There are no cons to a dishwasher. Even if you don't use it often, you'll want it sometimes.

Dishwasher, no doubt about it.

i have a double drawer dishwasher and both drawers get used daily.....sometimes more than once. i would not live without a dishwasher and i never feel like my dishes are totally clean when and if they get handwashed. 5-6 people living here at any given time? you bet i am going to use a dishwasher. LOL
even when i am in my apt on the west coast and it is just the 2 of us i use the dishwasher.

Hand-wash. We don't have a dishwasher right now. Don't really have the space to put one in either. I didn't have one growing up either. My DH did in their house. I'm convinced my parents had kids so they would have live in workers.
I'd like one in our next house I think, mainly for really big loads, if you hosted a meal, etc.

I'm getting a new one, mine is making some kind of grinding noise. But washing dishes 3x a day is not my idea of fun.

I don't think I'd want to not have a dishwasher.
There are dishes that I hand-wash every single day, but it doesn't negate the need for a dishwasher. It does take me a week or more to fill mine up, but it's pretty handy. Of course, I remove any food from the dishes before putting them in so it isn't in there all that time. As the plumber says 'the dishwasher is not a garbage disposal'. ![]()

I got my first dishwasher about 15 years ago - I was late to the party.
Now I would have trouble living without one.
Everything gets thoroughly washed and sanitized and no streaks ever. Dishes are squeaky clean.
Please treat yourself and get one STAT!
Ditto. I would definitely get one. I used to be a hand washer, but I realized things didn't get as clean. I also hate having a rack sitting on the counter. If you don't have one, you have to dry them by hand and put them away immediately.

Dishwasher absolutely!! I like the sanitizing of our dishes.
