Hammock cleaning

I'm hoping someone can give me suggestions on how to clean my backyard hammock, which is canvas and on one of those stands. It is about 6 years old now & I wipe it clean periodically but it is starting to look really grungy. It is the fabric part that I am wondering about--since it has wood attached to it, can I take it to the cleaners? It's at the point where you can't lay down in it without throwing a towel or blanket down first unless you don't mind getting filthy. Otherwise, it is in good condition so I hate to just replace it. TIA.
