The scarier and more realistic the better.

I don't decorate for Halloween... I decorate for fall... Nothing against Halloween, I love it, actually, but I also love fall and it lasts longer!

Re: Halloween; gory or simple?

Id say cutesy. I put Fall stuff out and Halloween stuff. But not tons of stuff. I decorate the window, a wreath on the door, put mums and pumpkins on the porch. Some Halloween garden stakes and a lit pumpkin outside also. Inside I have some Halloween décor and fall flowers in vases and such, and I put lights in the window.

We get a lot of small children trick or treating here so I don't want to go all gore.lol.

When the kids were small, I decorated for Halloween. Now, I am a fall decorator.

Besides, some of this Halloween stuff is just plain creepy looking.

That sounds really cool! I put up some decorations on my screen door and this year I am adding real pumpkins. We'll see what happens since I live in the kind of neighborhood where pumpkins are as likely to be smashed as not, but I miss having them so we'll see what happensSmile

ETA: LindersBack, your decorations sound amazing. I love that you decoupaged with The Raven and then put a raven on top of the skull - very creative.

Here a picture of him. The teeth were scanned from a photo and adjusted to size. The book he is sitting on is also a papier mache box from Michaels. I just scanned the cover of a real old leather book and pasted it on.

OK, I see the photo but it doesn't show up here. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Re: Halloween; gory or simple?

We have a lot of the vintage Halloween look. I've always loved that, and some years ago, Target had a lot of vintage replications, including those trick or treat round heads, one a black grinning cat head, and one an orange evil grin pumpkin head. I bought them out that year, lol.

We've collected so much, we can make almost any mini-scenes around the house. I have several cute pieces of Jim Shore Halloween, also. The owl with a witch hat I posted the other day, and their new little mini-purple witch.

Our girl also puts together Dia de los Muertos candles and decorations for us, including sugar skulls & candles. I love their art.

These are great. Kinda remind me of the characters from The Nightmare Before Christmas. How did you post your pictures?
