I don't think her son can help her either because he probably does not understand that she is having hallucinations. I'm sure he's extremely frustrated with her waking him up every night calling him about these noises. That's why her doctor needs to be doing more to get her the help she needs. He should recognize what is going on here.

@patofl  I'll bet you the son does know and understand the noises aren't real, and the doctor can't take action either.  Can you imagine what he's dealing with?  There's really nothing he or the doctor can do if there is no abuse or endangerment involved.  And doctors don't have time to do family counseling either and without investigating can't asses the real situation at the home.

There isn't really anything anyone but the person having the issues can do until it reaches a critical tipping point where the person decides to get help or it rolls over into something else.

Therein lies the problem.

He can send her to a mental health professional for evaluation.

If she refuses, how does he do that - pretend to be taking her to her primary care doctor and then going to the psychiatrist instead?

There can be medical conditions that contribute to on and off tinnitus.  I hope  @halfpint1's primary care physician has thoroughly ruled these out. I am not referring to problems with the inner ear.  I am sure @halfpint1 is experiencing something and because there is no logical solution it is causing her fear and a high level of anxiety especially when she is alone at night and feels vulnerable.

I'm hoping and praying that since her symptoms are escalating, halfpint will see her way to cooperating. If not... Bob can try to get a green warrant to have her mental health evaluated, in her best interest.

It is certainly not helping her going night after night without sleep.

I feel like i am in an alternate universe.  I do not think it is helpful at this point to post however well intentioned suggestions or to talk about her son here, other than to tell her to listen to him and take your meds, which i doubt she is doing.  To do otherwise is to complicate his ability to care for his mother.  I have dealt with a family situation quite similar.  He knows exactly what he is dealing with, don’t think that he doesn’t.   And can you imagine the effects on her of reading some of these comments.

@Shawnie  I do agree.  I will refrain from adding to this; I've said all I should say and probably too much.

I agree with you @Shawnie.  I'll quit giving my opinion here.

Agree.  People realize she is the problem, but then take her side against her son.  He should "do something to help her."  I'm pretty sure he is doing just that.

So the poster quit taking medication because posters on this board told her to?   And now people are making medical diagmoses?

I cannot figure out why QVC allows this.
