Where I live we are not under any mandated closings.  I go to a small, owner-operated salon in my town where I have known everyone there for over 25 yrs.

I have an appt next week and I will go.  They did ask if anyone has been out of the country to please reschedule after a 14 day quarantine.  Not sure if anyone has or not

I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend, til death, your right to say it

carrie ann,

I cancelled my appointment for a cut and roller set last Friday because of concerns.  As it is, the beauty shop I go to is struggling to survive, and my stylist is hurting financially.  It was not a happy feeling to cancel.

That evening, I stood in front of the bathroom mirror and chopped my hair.  True.

Re: Hair appointments

[ Edited ]

I have as of today been officially told to stay home. I live in California. I will do so barring any extreme emergency.

For those who sound so flippant, I wish you would rethink your place among us. You may be just fine if you get the virus, but those who are older and/or who have health issues have a much higher percentage of becoming very ill or dying.

Back to my hair, I dread canceling my upcoming visit only because of the root situation. It's a big deal to me. But I would rather stay alive and keep others' hold on that status as well.

I know of someone who was actively exposed to someone with Coronavirus and still planned on going to doctor appointments and getting her hair done. I’m guessing she didn’t advertise it while there. Everyone else isn’t as thoughtful as many here are.

On the other hand, I personally still took my mother to a new doctor’s office of Saturday. And my mother refused all of my attempts to give her hand sanitizer!

I had an appointment for this past Friday (3/313) for cut and color. I kept it.

I guess that I should cancel the hair appointment that I have for next Saturday for highlights and color. I hate to do this especially as my stylist really needs to work and I really need my roots touched up. This is one thing that I had not thought of until this morning. Is anyone else struggling with this?

This has nothing to do with washing your hands. Having your hair colored and shampooed is pretty up close and personal no to way to maintain personal space.  If we all take the attitude that life goes on and business as usual we will most likely look like Italy in a couple of weeks. Our health care system is not prepared to handle this.

Well it looks like you've made up your mind, @50Mickey .

Just so you're aware your penultimate sentence is hyperbole.

@x Hedge   Oh aren't you clever.

I have an upcoming appt. April 15th that I intend to keep. The salon I go to is a small one and I go at 2PM in the afternoon Wednesday every 6 weeks and am usually the only one in there besides my stylist, maybe one other client.  So as long as she keeps cutting, I'll keep showing up!

I have no intention of cancelling my 3/29 hair appointment, unless my hairdresser is forced to cancel it.

I've got three boxes of ROOT RESCUE in my linen closet and a pair of scissors. With my simple style, I'll cut off an inch tomorrow and color the next day. What you see is what you get!

@AuntG...I bet you will do a great job too! There are so many tutorials on YouTube about cutting hair and doing your own color.
