Re: Hail in Amarillo , Tx. !

@SharkE.  I had 3 skylights in my Midland house and loved them.  Brought a lot of light in.  We had hail that killed my flowers but didn't damage house.  If you're in your car in one of those storms, it sounds like the world's coming to an end.

That's a lot of hail. Looks like it snowed.

We usually get big hail when it hails. Have had to replace the roof twice because of it.

Re: Hail in Amarillo , Tx. !

I live in Az. we got hail too, double pane dining room window pop but the inside didn't it was a weird shape window got that replaced after ins. claim. Then car dealers were having huge sales with brand new cars hail damaged. It was just weird we don't get hail much. Had a skylight in a bathroom in the other house, how many times I go in there to shut off the light switch thinking someone left it on. That bathroom was so hot with the sun coming threw. You don't need more heat. What you need to do is move over to Az. no hurricanes to deal with. We are in a huge house building, never seen so many houses going up and not cheap either.

@SharkE  do you have the spanish tile roof? It's not cheap we have a ranch style had to replace it (just needed to be done not hail damage) it's very expensive. If you have damage they can just replace that part.

@SharkE , I am far from you (Nova Scotia) but we had hail last night and a cracking big thunder and lightening storm.  My dog was not impressed.  LM

Re: Hail in Amarillo , Tx. !

To all living in wild hail weather - take care!  Really scary.  I hope no one sustains big property damage.

Need a laugh?  I’ll give you one.  We had one day last week that looked like spring was on the brink.  Cool but so sunny.

That was exciting.  What wasn’t exciting was what happened late that night.  I heard a huge thumping noise on our deck.  Yes, a huge bear, at the bird feeders.  Through the windows of our glassed-in porch, we made a lot of noise and scared him off.  All seed feeders and suet removed now for the season.  Despite the weather, spring has arrived in CT.  Welcome to the land of the bears.

Nope just plain asphalt shingles guess U call them. I hear metal roofs are the best.  No water around us , so, no hurricanes worry. Amarillo area might have a couple of puddles, but, we wanted to make sure to stay away from water. One less worry.

I figure now we'll be in for a tornado next. Getting ready to go outside and see what my new troubles are gonna include.

Re: Hail in Amarillo , Tx. !

We had bad storms in the metro-DC yesterday afternoon also.  Some areas got something called Grauple that collected on the roads and other surfaces for a period of time.  To be sure, not the depth of the hail in the OP, but it's a term I had never heard before.  Evidently something akin to sleet, but a bit different.
