The hurricane headed for Long Island is causing flooding in Brooklyn and New york City. I just saw pictures of streets flooded and cars stranded due to the rain in the cities. The hurricane is expected to hit Long Island on Sunday and people are boarding up windows and leaving areas prior to the onslaught. The Hampton's especially are expected to be hit.
Having lived and raised in New York where we had a summerhouse on Long Island, I experienced a few hurricanes and witnessed the damage caused by them. I hope everyone in the areas where the hurricane is expected to hit, stay safe and out of harms way.

I lived on the CT shoreline for 40 years before moving...my home state...and remember Hurricane Gloria in 1986 very well...

I'm from LI and Florida. Please stay off the roads, hunker down.
I'm very concerned about the massive number of trees in the NE. If you have trees surrounding your home, heed this advice from experts- during the storm, stay on the lowest level of your home, either the first floor or in the basement. Keep away from windows. Praying for everyone's well being.
