Re: HAPPY SPRING

[ Edited ]

@lynnie61  Thank you very much.

How lucky were you, to have an aunt make Barbie gowns for you.  They must have been beautiful. Tiny things like that are difficult to sew. She must have been happy to have someone to sew for.

I never sewed Barbie clothes, when my three girls were little. I

only knitted tiny scarves, for Barbie.

But when my oldest daughter got married, I duplicated her gown and veil on a Barbie, for her bridal shower. Like your aunt, I collected tiny pearls, sequins and tiny lace for for the gown.

Last year, I posted a picture of it here.

I also have thought, wouldn't it be fun for a group of us to get together.

@beach-mom

That's great that you and your daughter were both dancers.

You will have to tell JT all about it when you call in to one of her shows! She will love it.

You were so lucky to have been able to take all those classes for so many years and to learn so many different kinds of dance.

World dance sounds intriguing. Were those dances traditional folk dances or modern styles of dance?  It sounds like something that I would have loved. In elementary school we did put on a show with different kinds of International folk dances. That was fun.

I forgot, I also took ballroom. In the late 50s, it seems that every 12 year old did that. It was fun. I just love all kids of dancing and all kinds of music. (except country and Rap)

What an adventure and such a great experience to live and teach in Japan and to learn Japanese dance. What did you teach? Did you live there for a long time?

I can understand your being shy, performing Middle Eastern dance.

When the instructor in the jazz class asked me to join her belly dance class, I was too shy at the time to do that.  But, in my 30s, I had lost that shyness, after I saw dancers perform and I fell in love with that syle of dance.

At the time, I had an Egyptian boyfriend and was into the culture, food and music. (That was when I was single for 8 years, following a divorce) So, later , I was ready to join her class.

The style of costumes that she wanted us to wear, were relatively modest. We had to make harem pants to wear under our skirts, so bare legs never showed. We wrapped ourselves in

a long veil, so our tops were not exposed. We only removed our veils, while doing veil work. After 2 years at her studio, I moved on to learn other styles.

Later costumes did not have the harem pants.

So, both you and your daughter were life long dancers, that is wonderful. I am impressed and so would JT! I think that you and @on the bay should call in to one of her shows. Smiley Happy

Now, for swimming. That is my nightmare and absolute biggest fear, water!  I have had three bad experiences in water and never learned to swim.

I love looking at the gorgeous water in Bermuda and I will go in , up to my knees. But, that is it. We live near the ocean and always went to the beach in summer, but after things that have happened to me, those waves hitting my body, just take my breath away. The smell of chlorine in a pool, makes me feel ill.

It brings back such a bad memory. I keep away from any indoor pools.

I know that swimming is the best exercise, but I just can't do it.

I never transferred my fears to my children and they all learned to swim. They always went to their friends pools in the summer. They loved the ocean, when we went to the beach.

It is wonderful that you and your children love to swim and

that they even became lifeguards.

My ballerina daughter and her husband built a pool, when they bought their house. Her children learned to swim as babies and they both were on the high school swim team.

I have never gone into her pool. A couple of times, when no one was around, I sat on the edge and only put my feet in the water. I don't trust being around people, being near water.

I prefer to sit in her pool house and have a cold drink, on  hot summer day.

@Enufstuff  Hi Donna Smiley HappyHeart! I was looking at your beautiful Hello Spring Toni creations and I remembered that you wanted to see some of my watercolor paintings.  I found a few on my computer tonight -these are watercolors from when I went to art college.  The photos are a little fuzzy since I took them with my old flip phone. I love to do watercolor paintings of fruit and vegetables, plants and animals. The prayer plant painting is a painting of a lemon lime prayer plant that I got myself for my birthday a few years ago- I really loved that plant.   I hope that you enjoy Smiley HappyHeart  Take care and goodnight!

You MUST do something with your talent for painting...REALLY.  You're that good!  I took a watercolor class in college I barely made it through lol.  You're paintings are FAR BETTER than any my teacher or anyone in the department ever displayed.  You are gifted!❤️
