@beach-mom  How wonderful that your mother made dresses with matching coats. They must have been beautiful.

One Easter, I did make lined capes for my girls, but never made Easter coats. Making the dresses was really enough for me to do.

I had five children to dress. My two sons are younger than the girls. One year,  I did make a little one piece sailor suit with short pants for my son, he was two. I didn't really sew for the boys.

My girls never had Nanette dresses, but they did have Polly Flinders. Polly F. dresses were beautiful. I loved the smocking on those dresses. One Easter, I made pastel colored dresses for them with smocking.

Your Easter egg hunts sound like fun and I'm sure are lovely Easter memories, for your children. We never did that, after church we had relatives to visit. Dinner at in-laws and then visit my two grand mothers to see all the aunts and cousins.

@Enufstuff - How blessed you were to have all of your extended family close! We never had that. My mom flew to wherever we were for Mother's Day. It was easier for her to come to us because it was hard for DH to get away.

So we entertained ourselves. We usually had brunch at church, then I made ham and scalloped potatoes later on.

It was probably easier for Mom to make a lot of my clothes since I was her only daughter. I tried to sew, but never did well at it. I made DH a turquoise tie when we were dating. I never saw him wear it- LOL!

My mom and her twin sister (My aunt and uncle didn't have children, so they "shared" my brother and me!) sewed beautifully, knitted, and crocheted. I do cross stitch. LOL!

I danced from a young age until 7th grade. My instructor wanted me to get toe shoes. I tried, but didn't do well. I took ballet, tap, ballroom, and "world" dance.

Later, after college I took Middle Eastern like you! I did it for fun and thought it would be a one-time thing. I ended up taking 3 classes! Our instructor arranged for us to "perform." I stood in the back next to the curtains. I was so self conscious in my costume. That was the end of my dance "career," although I later took Japanese dance when I taught in Japan.

I loved dance, but I loved swimming more!

DD started dancing at three. She went all the way through, including toe shoes, and taught the young ones at her studio her last two years of high school. She joined the dance team her first year of college, but dropped out after that when the uniforms changed. She will admit she misses it. At the same time she was teaching dancing, she was also teaching swimming. LOL!

My children had no choice- they both had to swim! They both became certified lifeguards, although DD was the only one who worked as one.  Smiley Happy

@Enufstuff,

I think dance is a wonderful form of freedom and expression too!

My daughter was in a group that mostly danced contemporary. The dance instructor was the choreographer and owned her studio. Had them rehearsing until 12 some nights-oi! They got to go to New York and perform. Jane you aren't the only one lol!

I loved watching her. She got to help teach the younger girls too and loved it for the most part.

One of my grandaughters is in competition dance now at 5 years old. She is the youngest.

I usually cry when I watch her.

She is the only one in the entire family that can do total splits sideways and front. I don't know where she comes from lol!

@on the bay   That is so exciting, that your daughter got to go to New York to perform. She must have been thrilled. Those long late night rehearsals made your daughter a proficient and competent dancer. What a wonderful experience for her.

I just had a thought, when I used to watch the Q, they took calls from people at home.

Wouldn't it be great if you could call in on one of Jane's shows, and tell her all about your daughter and grand daughter?

I don't know if they still take those calls, but Jane would be

flabbergasted, I bet.

That is great that your grand daughter dances too. Kids are so flexible . She sounds so agile and limber. She must be very good to be in competitions at 5 years old.

Just thinking of her splits is giving me a painful memory.

When I was 8 months pregnant with my oldest son, I had just washed the kitchen floor. Trying not to step on the wet floor, I

took a big step trying to avoid the wet area, to get to the bathroom. Well I unintentionally did a split and fell. That was

very painfull. I felt like my legs were coming unhinged from their joints. Ouch!

@Enufstuff   I have to say that Toni looks beautiful as always.  Just a few days ago, I almost asked you where is the new Toni post.  ☘️☘️My dads aunt made me many beautiful Barbie gowns when I was young.  She used sequins and tiny pearls.  I wish I had kept them.  She was an excellent seamstress and also crocheted us beautiful ponchos as well.  She had two boys, and loved that my dad had two girls to sew and crochet for.

Happy Easter, Happy Spring.  ☘️🎊🐇☔️

I love your talent and thank you for giving us so many smiles with these and other posts.  I enjoy reading your posts.  I would love to have lunch with several favorite posters!  Kindness isn't gone yet!.

@on the bay   I forgot to include that you could also tell her that you were a ballerina, just like her!

@Shanus   I hope that your flowers survived the overnight chill.

My daughter has daffodils and purple crocus that bloomed early.

We had some cold nights, in the 30s, so she has been covering them at night and that saved them. I think that she used some large plant pots.

I saw the flowers on Sunday and they are beautiful.
