February 17th begins the Lunar New Year

celebration. This is the Year of the Horse.

Each year I make a card for my brother and his wife, who is from Hong Kong.

This year I did not do the art work on the card. I used a sticker that was printed with the image of the USPS postage stamp for Lunar New Year, 2026 and added some trims.

    Happy New Year to all who celebrate the 

Year of the Fire Horse.

  I heard that the Year of the Fire Horse is  every 60 years  which the last time was 1966.

Went to a big Asian  cultural event yesterday to celebrate  the Year of the Fire Horse  where they had  8 groups  providing performances. It was  very entertaining  and the costumes were  beautiful .

@skatting44  How wonderful that you got to attend such an event. It must have been amazing and such fun to watch the 

performances and see the beautiful costumes.

        I have only a seen a couple of events with performances

in Boston's China Town, years ago with my sister-in-law.

        There is a Chinese restaurant nearby that would have their family celebrating outside the restaurant with dances and costumes. I have always been fascinated with how other cultures celebrate their holidays.

         For the Lunar New Year, we usually just go to a Chinese restaurant for dinner, sometimes with my sister-in-law's extending family.

happy Lunar New Year !   My sign is the Horse so  it's my year this year !   Hopefully it means a good one !

we are going to a big Chinese banquet tomorrow looking forward to it and all the food !

@Enufstuff   That's good to know. The Chinese restaurant we frequent usually has a "Lunar Special" dinner. Will have to check it out it this week.
