Good morning everybody! This morning's track is taking it more towards the East, and I would say residents of Southeast La, Mississippi and Alabama should listen.
Jim Cantore explained how the speed as Nate moves past the Yucatan could affect the outcome...it could be anything from a tropical storm and one outlier model has it as a Category 3.
Keep in mind that past storms have affected the coastline of the Gulf States-especially the greatly diminished Louisiana wetlands....
Please post what you are being told by your local news...
What is strange about Nate is that this season, they had a good grip on long range forecasts-and yes, the forecasts tracks did change as storms approached land....Nate kind of popped up out of nowhere and we are going to be dealing with it shortly....
The Carribean is boiling: it's a sea of reds and yellows....I don't think we have to worry too much about Atlantic hurricanes because of really strong high pressure and wind shear-but keep your eyes on the Gulf!

@Perkup, are you in the Mandeville/Covington area? I have a lot of friends in that area....when I was growing up in that vicinity, tornadoes were rare....and now tornadoes and flooding-particularly around Slidell/Ponchatoula has become so common....
If you are out and about, do me a favor and get me a nice oyster poboy!

Yes. I'm in West St. Tammany Parish. Tornadoes haven't been very frequent here, but in October a few years back we had a small one that came during a Category 2 hurricane. It came directly down the street in front of our house, down my driveway, sent a magnolia tree through my car, twisted and felled a huge pine tree that crushed DH's boat. It was awesome. My son and I watched it from the front porch. That freight train sound they talk about is really true.
I wish I could get you a nice oyster poboy, but sorry, I had it for lunch yesterday. Got it at Bear's. Great poboys there. It was delicious! Might have another next week, and I'll think of you!

@Perkup, growing up, I lived in Tchefuncta and then my parents lived in Riverwood...the last time I was down there was years ago, but I was dazzled by the revitalization of Madisonville....
There was a family owned burger place called "Badeaux's": they had one location in Covington and another in Madisonville
I -and they had the best poboys and shakes....would you know if they are still there?
I have to ask about Trey Yin: I have not had gourmet Chinese food since leaving there....are they still there?
I left in 1984- Covington was on its way to becoming a metropolis: I doubt I would recognize it....every now and then I look at The St. Tammany Farmer.
On the hurricane front, I just heard Dr. Posted talking about Nate: he thinks there will be interaction with the Yucatan.
Are you surrounded by tall pines? That was always my mother's biggest concern....

Poodlepet - I wrote a lengthy reply to your questions, but I can't seem to find it. I don't know where it went. I will try again later, and I apologize for the disappearance.

@Perkup, I have been getting "Authentication Failed" messages...if you go back to what you wrote and do the "reload" thing, it works...I have had to do that so much lately, and I don't know why....it's just another mystery of the internet universe which I don't fully understand...
I would love to hear from you. One thing is for sure: you are on target for Nate.....if you are surrounded by towering pines, I am praying for you and keeping you in my thoughts and prayers....
Hugs,
