Re This thread sounds like we're having a clean contest to see who does the most laundry and takes the most showers.   I suspect some people here are OCD for clean.   Never heard of anyone dying of sleeping on a used sheet.

Sleeping on a used sheet from someone else is like wearing their dirty clothing,  GROSS!  It won't kill you, but it is still gross.

@SeaMaiden  Your comment is rude and out of order.

This is a fun thread don't muck it up with a personal attack.

I'm with @Kachina624 and @sidsmom on this. Sounds like a venue for some (not all) posters to tout their Cleanliness Superiority. "Cleaner than thou"?

Y'all do know that for many, especially the elderly and those who have extreme dry skin issues, doctors recommend not bathing or showering daily as it is not necessary for cleanliness.  Nursing homes do not bathe/shower their residents daily - twice a week is common.  And of course, much of Western Europe and the UK think we are psycho about bathing daily.

Everyone does as they see fit, but I wouldn't "ewww!" those who don't bathe or shower daily. And I have to say I'm not impressed by those who change their sheets multiple times a week or shower multiple times per day. Do what you do, but it's not the norm even in the cleanliness-obsessed US.

@Moonchilde....

I don't think anyone is trying to impress anyone here...I think it's just a thread...

Your absolutely right about the recommendations about dry skin, over bathing, etc.

I think sheets should still be regularly changed and my little rugs and couch slip will still be washed every Sunday because that's what I like:-)

Things happen to people mentally and physically that it might not be possible to wash everything the way it should be without help.

So even if it is gross there may be a reason. Smiley Sad

FWIW, I agree with weekly sheet changing AND definitely clean sheets for a guest.

@Pqfan...

I agree, those who know of people like this should offer help if they will accept.

I wash my disabled aunt/uncle sheets once a month and my moms sheets I change for her. It's just because I want them to have clean sheets and it's hard for them to change their sheets.

  Do you really think @goldensrbest was talking about a situation like that, though?

  I don't........I think everyone is aware that things change and must be adjusted when there are medical issues!

I grew up with a Mom that was VERY relaxed in the house cleaning dep't..I had never heard of "scrubbing the baseboards"  they just got clean when we vacuumed (& continues to this day)

i would think growing up with a cleaning obsessed Mother would make a very relaxed house keeper. My husband & I are clean people, & normally change our bedding once a month..more often when we were younger 😊
