This is the first time I have thought that perhaps my local grocery might close. Today I noticed lots of empty shelves...all types of items were not in stock. Entire sections were empty. This isn't typical at all and made me wonder if corporate might be thinking about closing the store. I hope that it stays open and can restock. Will be checking back again next week to see if deliveries came in.

You should have asked an employee and then you would have known what the situation was.

Have you not been to a grocery store in a while? The nationwide grocery store chains are all bare. Just another sign of these lovely times.

Te supply chain issue is real. Our son works in the corporate office for a major grocer in Texas and tells us about the problems. Do other grocers in your area have the bare shelves you describe? If so, then it is probably a stocking issue. If not, then yes, they might be setting up to close 😪 I hope not.

I live in western NY and I go shopping every week. There are no shortages of any kind in any of the stores I have been to - Wegmans, Tops, or Wal-Mart. I am going to start going every other week because of gas prices - $4.79 a gallon.

They would not have known (or cared). I can call corporate next week to get a better answer.

This is not a typical situation for the store at all. I am used to seeing a few sections out of stock, but these were quite widespread and unusual.
I am fortunate that most grocers I go to have fairly full shelves, (although some areas, like dairy, can be very low indeed).

With gas prices the way they are many places are starting to get fewer shipments. Warehouses are trying to consolidate trips and stored will start running out of things.

The nationwide grocery stores are all bare? Lol now that is some hyperbole. There are certain items out of stock sometimes where I shop, but the store is well stocked all the time. The other stores I occasionally visit are too.
