Thank you for this timely reminder. ![]()
I'm so grateful for my home, my sweet little family (my husband and my dog) and just being alive and well.....
It's the simple, basic things that mean the most and sometimes we forget that....

For today I am sheltered, not hungry nor thirsty, able to receive care for medical issues, and know my loved ones are safe. Humbled.😔

Be well.
@Cakers3 And that is a day more valuable than silver and gold! And it is a bessing from Heaven, given and unmerited!

Thank you to all who took the time to read and post.
Sometimes I forget about gratitude when overwhelmed by situations but remember to take one thing at a time and read again this poem by Rumi:
The Guest House
"This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.
A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.
Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they’re a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still, treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.
The dark thought, the shame, the malice,
meet them at the door laughing,
and invite them in.
Be grateful for whoever comes,
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond."❤️
Hard to believe at times.

I try to be grateful each day, but these few weeks of terrible hurricanes makes me even MORE grateful for my home, my wonderful family and friends. I know occasionally I need a gentle reminder. My thoughts and prayers to all who have experienced loss and hardship during the hurricane.

@Cakers3 Glad you mentioned the subject.
My friend from college days has been texting me about what she and her neighbors are dealing with after Hurricane Helene blew through her area. She lives is a mountainous region of North Carolina. Hurricanes generally never get as far as the mountains. Once hurricanes start going over land they generally lose their strength.
It really has been so sad to hear what they are dealing with. But encouraging at the same time. All the neighbors are dealing with no power and no water, lots of fallen trees, lots of water damage etc.
But they are getting together as a group. Dealing with all the mud from the rivers of water that flowed through their properties. Clearing the fallen trees so everyone can get out of their driveways or off their houses, clearing the trees that fell on the roads. In hopes that power trucks and linemen can eventually restore their power.
It sounds like pioneer days. But they are all pitching in to help one another out.
I read one story yesterday. It was a woman thanking Walmart for a shower. She hadn't had a shower for 11 days. And Walmart had set up several L O N G trailers with individual showers. She was so excited to have a hot shower. And as she was showering Walmart also offered to wash any clothing/items for her, that she wanted washed.
Just reading her note made you stop and think how blessed we are.

I went for my dental checkup this week - knowing something was wrong with my front tooth which already had a root canal 20 years ago,
So options are an implant (which would take a year) or a perm bridge - I opted for the implant. I met a friend for lunch afterwards
I said - this is an incovenience and not a tragedy
I am blessed that I can afford to have this work done
Of course I would have preferred that I had better teeth to begin with-
deep cavities as a kid - then crowned as an adult
but it is still just an inconvenice in the greater scheme with everything going on around us -
thank you OP for the post -

Between the major highway in my town and my new apartment, there are five roundabouts. I am grateful every time I negotiate them and arrive home unscathed. 🫣😊
Anyone remember a pinkish book that was popular about daily gratitude maybe from the 80s?

I am mindful every day to be grateful of all God's blessings. They've been too numerous to count. I've had "pitfalls" along the way, but I can only be grateful for everything given to me.
