Years ago when I was new to the USA, I received several graduation announcements from schoolmates of my kids. Friends and neighbors told me these were a thinly disguised requests for gifts for the graduate. They told me to ignore them or send money to the graduates (my choice).
The other day we received a graduation announcement from a neighbor's kid. DH insisted that this was an invitation to the graduation. In the end I called the neighbor and he explained to DH that it was just an announcement. I told DH it was a thinly veiled request for a gift. DH wants to send money even though we barely know the graduate. What do you all think?
