Welcome to the Coronavirus Chatter forum.
I have experienced some things that made me calm down and think.
1. In a check out line a man was purchasing a twelve roll of toilet paper. a woman was about in tears and told a cashier she had been to 5 places looking for toilet paper. This man overheard her and after paying for his groceries he opened the toilet paper and gave her 6 rolls. She tried to pay him. I see tears of joy racing across her cheeks as the man says, "no problem I can make do"
How many of us are willing to think of someone other than ourselves? What would you do?
Please do not answer my question because it is none of my business. I just want people to think of others. The news said we need 4 rolls of toilet paper per person for 2 weeks. Do you only get what you need for two weeks?
2. Our Meals on wheels was struggling because a lot of the volunteers were in the high risk group. They were having to reduce deliveries.
It seemed odd that the community was not as outraged about this as they were about school children not getting meals.
Enter a group of high school students that volunteered to be trained and do the routes. Kudos to the children for thinking of others.
I see articles about the bonehead children drinking on the beach but not enough of the children doing something good.
3.Our nutrition group and school district are providing food to over 14,000 students a day. It is two meals at a time so that is 28,000 meals per day. The bus driver have volunteered to drive some of the routes to get the food to the students houses as well as pick up locations.
Kudos to the bus drivers as well as the nutrition group.
It made me think that I need to find something I can do that is helpful instead of dwelling on finding the illusive toilet paper and hand sanitizer. I have done this and challenge others to think about it.
I am very grateful for the people working on the front line to try to keep things going. Take every chance to stay healthy to protect those around you.
Thank you for visiting the

@doxie1 , I'm glad to see these gestures of people helping others. Today DH found a bag of N95 masks in our garage. We're sending it to workers in a NYC hospital that is getting deluged by Covid patients. These workers are lacking the PPEs they need to stay healthy.
Every little bit helps.

People are so panicked that they don't stop and think that they can get in the shower & wash their behind if worse comes to worst. Wash rag & soap work wonders.

@doxie1 What a thought-provoking post! You got me thinking now, what could I do to make things better for someone else? DH and I are in the high risk group, especially DH who was seriously ill for all of last year. That being so, it makes it hard to figure out how I could help other than making donations.
Thanks for making us all think about service to our fellow humans.

What a wonderful find! Those masks could literally save a life.

The school here is making food and bussing it to students also. I think this is a wonderful thing.
I think a lot of us want to help and are in different ways, I also think we are completely overwhelmed, life has turned on its axis in the last few weeks.

@Kalli That is awesome. I do believe every little bit helps.

The news said we need 4 rolls of toilet paper per person for 2 weeks.
"The news said"?
There's a source I wouldn't quote.
Even with what the chemo does to me, two rolls a week would be a lot. I think "the news" must mean Dollar Tree rolls. They have fewer sheets per 4roll pack.
How few? Oh, about a dollar's worth.
Our senior centers have suspended sociable lunches. Those seniors who normally ate at the centers have been temporarily added to the meals on wheels roster.
So the drivers are now taking the meals to them, instead of taking them to their meal.

I do think we are overwhelmed and we are trying to get it together to move forward. I like to believe that most people want to do something to help.

Great googlies! I did not think it was that important of a fact to not use the news.
Here is one source but the truth is that I heard in on either nbc or abc news.
It did not let me.
Check the following
trueplumbers dot com
toilet paper history dot net
and today
It is interesting that today says staying at home will increase the toilet paper usage by 140%
It does not break it down by one ply and two ply.
household double mega
2 9 5
4 17 9
In the four person household someone is not getting the same paper allowance! haha
Of course there are some variances with people using more or less.
I think it is great the senior centers are helping deliver the food under meals on wheels.
