cosmetics and perfume (sets) are such boring Christmas gifts and so predictable

I can't imagine giving make-up as a gift. It's too personal and women have very specific favorites as to color and brand. Maybe to a teen-ager who doesn't know any better and likes to experiment.

I'm wondering if the vendor is grasping at straws to sell the TSV. They presented it at 7:55 as they always do, then they presented it again at 8:30. To me, that means it's not moving.

I don't know what has been happening the rest of the day as I only saw the morning show.

I just received an email pushing the TSV too.

Yes, Ford, they think we're all nitwits.

I don't really understand the Holiday Eye Shadow Pallet thing that it seems ALL cosmetic companies come out with EVERY holiday season.

I don't know anyone who uses all of the colors, and it's not like you can give a couple of them away as they are stuck in the pallet.

One pallet equals One item.

I wouldn't buy it anyway. Tarte eye makeup make my eyes burn. The lip gloss is pretty, but not worth $60!

Its the eye pencils that do that to me...I mean to the point of an eye infection. I can wear the shadows but I will never try the pencils again!

Now my girls...they love receiving MU for Christmas.

My youngest can not afford much MU so I buy her more expensive fun palettes.

My oldest can afford any MU but gets in a rut and she likes that I take her out of her comfort zone.

Just saw Lisa referring to it as "26 full size pieces" - anyone coming in during the middle of the presentation would be sitting there trying to count "how many pieces"? {#emotions_dlg.blink}

And as misleading as this might be, according to the dictionary, they are not wrong in referring to these as "pieces"...I thought they were wrong, so I looked it up.

A thing considered as a unit or an element of a larger thing

I still think they shouldn't refer to it that way.{#emotions_dlg.bored}

kitty: ITA. HSN/Serious Skin Care is guilty of putting the empty box behind the tube so it's a lot goin' on there with the presentation. I go, 'now what DO I get?'. They all do it, but QVC has been pretty forthright w/ their presentations.

PS...I like the way you researched the definition of 'pieces'...that's the extra step I wish our forum posters would take before they write. It's the little things...yes?

Fi. Shawn said 12 pieces, but Maureen still refers to the TSV as 26 items. Smiley Happy. Go Shawn! She's mentioned the 12 items multiple times.

Yes she did . . . I noticed that too. I was proud of her.

I received a note back from the QVC team justifying their use of "26 items" by saying the eye shadow squares are full size. I won't bother writing back. I still dare them to present one or even two of those pallets and call them 8 or 16 different products. How could one ever dig one of those squares out and give them to someone as a gift? It's ridiculous. No biggie I guess, they sold what they sold and who knows how many think they are going to get 26 different products.

I just dislike ambiguous (at best) marketing practices.

Here is my exchange with QVC:

Hello ,

Thank you for emailing QVC.

For Item A257300:tarte Sweet Indulgences 3-in-1 Holiday Gift Collection.

Indulge in 26 full-size beauty luxuries from tarte. The shadows are each 8 full size not just little swatches. You are presenting the TSV as "26 items." There are only 12 items in the offer, which includes two palettes of eye shadow in 8 different colors. I think it is misleading to count each color as a separate product. You would not sell it separately as 8 products, you would sell it as one product with 8 different colors. I have never complained to you before since my original membership in 1990, but this misrepresentation is annoying and misleading.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

It was 26 because they said each shadow was full size. Add it all up and it = 26.

Yes, but you can't make 26 separate gifts out of the TSV.
