Jules, I'm sorry you have to go through all this pain and grief.
Here is something I hope comforts you in some small way.
When tomorrow starts without me
And I’m not here to see
If the sun should rise and find your eyes
All filled with tears for me
I wish you wouldn’t cry
The Way you did today
While thinking of the many things
We did not get to say
I know how much you love me
As much as I love you
Each time that you think of me
I know you will miss me too
When tomorrow starts with out me
Please try to understand
That an angel came and called my name
And took me by the hand
The angel said my place was ready
In heaven far above
And That I would have to leave behind
All those I Dearly Love
But When I walked through Heaven’s Gates
I felt so much at home
When GOD looked down and smiled at me
From his golden throne
He said This Is Eternity
And All I promised you
Today for life on earth is done
But Here it starts a new
I promise no tomorrow
For today will always last
And Since each day’s the exact same way
There is no longing for the past
So When Tomorrow starts without me
Do not think we’re apart
For every time you think of me
Remember I’m right here in your heart

What a beautiful, heartfelt post...thank you for sharing it with us.
That puppy was a gift from God...I knew it the first time you posted.
Your dad's love will live in your heart forever...
God bless!

Oh God, Jules, I am so sorry. So, so sorry.
You don't have to explain why you posted, we all care here, about him and about you.
We are never ready for our loved ones to go. I went through years of watching my mother slowly fade away and thought I had grieved it all, but when I got in the car after she passed, I said out loud "I wasn't ready", and I kept repeating it all the way home.
Talk to your pup, hug her and kiss her, and yes---she will be why you get up in the morning for a while. My mother's dog kept me going after she died, I say that if I didn't have him to care for I don't know what else could have kept me going.
I'm thinking of you tonight and hoping you are okay. God bless you, Jules.

Good morning and a blessed Easter Sunday to all. I wanted to say thank you again to all of you for your so very kind words of condolence and support, I feel your love and genuine care. I did end up going over for the party at the nursing facility yesterday, took puppy with me and we walked because it was a beautiful afternoon, and she needed the exercise. I just took deep breaths and looked at all the blossoming trees and flowers, the blue sky and fluffy clouds, and felt some peace because I know my dad is in a better place and always with me now. It was difficult walking in there again for the first time after... walking past his room the door was open and his bed was all made and his half of the room had nothing in it, just waiting for the next resident. Seemed odd not to see him lying there.
I am going to church later this morning for Easter service. Haven't been to church since I took my dad for Christmas Eve. It feels important to go, especially today. I invited one of the lady residents and she said she would be happy to go with me, so I will have company and a friend to support me.
OC, that is a beautiful poem and the words do indeed provide comfort. I had never heard that before, but it's lovely.... I also smiled because the author's middle name is Doris, and that was my mom's name (although my dad called her Dolly, because she was his doll)
I hope everyone has a beautiful day, and a very happy Easter. Thank you again for all your kindness, it has been a lifesaver for me.
