I am so very sorry for your loss. I pray that your beautiful memories sustain you in the days ahead.

Although I know each of us has our own experience, I learned that I never “get over” missing him while at the same time I know he never left me, if that makes sense. If we’re lucky, we learn to celebrate the life that was, yet we will always feel the twinge, the emptiness, since we can’t have them here on earth with us. The hugs, the smiles, the knowledge they’re just a few steps away or a phone call away… it’s hard to give those up. You were a loving daughter who learned compassion and dedication from your parents. I’d say without hesitation that you were a treasured gift to them and they’d say to you, “well done.”
The gentle, beautiful words of our fellow posters are a testament to the true spirit of the people behind the nicknames. You might have seen this before, but these words comfort me and I keep them close by when I need help in the silence of my grief. I offer my prayers and I offer this, as my words are inadequate:"Do not stand at my grave and weep,I am not there, I do not sleep.I am in a thousand winds that blow,I am the softly falling snow.I am the gentle showers of rain,I am the fields of ripening grain.I am in the morning hush,I am in the graceful rushOf beautiful birds in circling flight,I am the starshine of the night.I am in the flowers that bloom,I am in a quiet room.I am in the birds that sing,I am in each lovely thing.Do not stand at my grave and cry,I am not there. I do not die."~Mary Elizabeth Frye

I love that poem and used it when my mother died. I'm glad you shared it for Jules

Jules -
I hope you were able to sleep last night, I worry about all the stress on you. I think it sounds like a good idea to drop in to the Easter party today, I'm sure the residents will be so happy to see you and it may be a good thing to be able to share some memories of your dad... I hope so
Thinking of you,
N.

Thanks Noel, I was just thinking the same thing, and came here for words of strength and comfort. You ladies are all so awesome!
dooBdoo, Thank you for your post... I have read that poem before, but you are a good reminder, and so kind to refresh my memory with it.
I haven't addressed everyone personally with thanks, that would take a long time, but I hope you ALL know I have read every post and am so thankful. The words of comfort mean so much.

Dear Jules, I hope and pray and send wishes to you that all of the beautiful memories of your dad will keep you strong so you will easily carry on in life and take care of your new friend, who needs your love. Blessings always to you.

p.s. I haven't read all of the posts yet, but an Easter party was just mentioned. Yes, it might be a good idea to drop in. Many grieving folks have celebrations of life, and hopefully attending an Easter party for a short while just might bring some much needed relief for you. Just a thought, Jules.

Just thinking, again, that since you have made good friends there at the NH, it would be nice of you to not only drop in to their Easter party, but also occasionally visit your friends there who might not have visitors. It will be a good thing to do.

Just like Good Friday itself, this is one of those sad/joyous occasions. Your words "he is already with her where it matters" says it all. Blessings to you during this difficult time.
