We use the library a lot. Audiobooks for me because I can listen at work. Also books and movies too. I donate to our library because I so appreciate not having to buy and store books. I download books to my Kindle, but I still prefer a book in my hand.

@SeaMaiden I still read paper books and lots of them. I try to read one per week. My local library is a favorite hang out for myself and my children. I just signed up my son for a STEAM calss a few minutes ago. My city sees the benefit of libraries serving their community. We have 7 of them and they are open every day of the week.. I do not own a tablet or e-reader and am going to be sad when the day comes that paper books are no more.

@TaylorBrown I was talking to the librarian for a while when we were signing up for our new library cards as our old ones expired from nonusage. Her name was Maria.. a sweet older lady. She was saying that someday there will be no librarian... that now young people just mostly use the computers to find answers to their questions... and the librarian duties are less and less. I think THAT IS SO SAD... I enjoy having the human touch. She had been working in this library for 20 years.
There is a major shift in what people need and want... in this information world .. and they want it NOW. I am afraid to say that books as hard backs and paper backs are going to disappear someday. Nothing better than holding and smelling the pages of a book. NOTHING. But, the newer generations are getting further and further from using books.

I go to the library at least twice a week and have usually between 12 to 16 books always checked out. Read at least three books on the weekend alone and then during the week a couple more. Before work, during lunch and at night. Do not turn on t.v. much and do not stay on-line at night. Easy to spend time with a book if you just stay unplugged. Spent my whole childhood with my nose in a book.
Love the library and the ladies at the library.

@beckyb1012 THAT is amazing! And I bet it is very healthy... to really relax and disengage with a book... I think the mind works different when we are reading and experiencing a book than being on a computer. I need to get back into that mode... just quiet... and a book... nothing else going on. Usually when I am on a computer type device I have the TV on and I am doing all kinds of searches and such.. my mind never rests... Thank-you for showing me that I need to disengage and READ.

So far this morning before work I read a book for 2 hours and 22 minutes on my stationary bike. Been doing this every morning and for a bit every evening since 1985. Love to eat ice cream but love to be thin too. So loosing myself in a book while exercising helps it go faster. Still read in my chair and couch but my bottom would be massive if I read on the couch the entire time. Seriously, I love to read and my Mom even grounded me once as a young girl from my library books until I brought up my C grade to a B in Social Studies. Hate exercising but love reading so found what works for me.

@beckyb1012 I had a girl friend named Laurie when I was young ( about 10) who also was a book person. Her Mother owned a really neat book store called Bell Book and Candle. Laurie had access to all kinds of books and knowledge.. thus she was also a very smart little girl! We would spend hours in this bookstore on Saturdays with her Mom The bookstore was in a very old house that looked magical! It had all kinds of winding stair cases and all kinds of rooms! We spent hours curling up and reading books.. I think she opened my mind to books.

I love to read. When working and taking care of my mother I did not have much time. I used to buy my books from Amazon but when I retired it made more sense to go the library because I had more free time. I read real books and I go the library once a week. Sometimes you have to wait a while for a best seller and if I just can't wait I will purchase it.

I rarely watch tv, but I get my news on the computer. I guess I would rather read my news than have those talking heads choose the news I hear...or try to shout over the top of someone else's voice.
I love to read...usually 2-3 books a week. Libraries have changed in the last 15 years or so...lots of computers, books on tape, videos, comfortable places to sit, coffee shops, and self-service checkout. They are still quiet, but not as hush, hush as they used to be. Our library has a sign requesting that cell phones be put on vibrate and that all calls be made or taken in the lobby.
