The second book by Harper Lee is being released in July. It is a sequel to TKAMB. I have already pre ordered from Amazon.

I read about this today. From the article I read, it sounded like she had written this book first. It should be interesting. I just hope that this is something she actually wanted released and that people are not taking advantage of her as I have read she is in very bad shape.

My grandmother knew her when she was a girl and said that Harper and a little boy (I wonder if it was Capote?) would often stand across the sidewalk with a rope and try to charge people a nickel to get by! (My grandmother said they would just walk around them into the street.)

Roni, how interesting!

I can't wait for the book. I'd have reserved it already if I could.

I have read a few things about her and she is 88! She really did a lot of the work on ""In Cold Blood"" and felt she did not get enough credit . I wonder if she will even menntion Dill?

Thought about who could play Atticus in the sequel. Watched an Amazing Stories w/ Kevin Costner. He would be good. Also Harrison Ford

In the 1930's Atticus was mid 30's . So move it ahead 20 years.

I am really looking forward to the release of this book. To Kill a Mockingbird has been my favorite book since I read it as a teenager. I reread it every few years and it is always like visiting an old friend. It will be interesting to read the "new" book to find out how the characters develop and also to see how it stands up against To Kill a Mockingbird. If nothing else, it should provide some interesting discussions.

Thought this comment was about technology that's easier to use than this forum!
As to the book, I'm on the fence, wondering the truth about why Harper Lee didn't release it herself along time ago.

I also preordered through Amazon. Exciting prospects may await us; it is supposed to be better than TKAM.
