Gloria Vanderbilt Leaves Son Anderson Cooper Bulk Of Her Estate

I just read that Anderson was left most of his mother’s estate. The oldest son gets her co-op in NYC on Beekman Place. She was estranged from her middle son, he was left out of the will. I am surprised Anderson’s getting everything, he once told Howard Stern he expected nothing, there was also no trust fund for him. I don’t understand how someone leaves more to one child than another. I could never do this, siblings can have a falling out because of this. It’s too bad Gloria didn’t reconcile with her son before she passed.

I’m surprised too since Anderson said she would not be leaving him anything.

I know Anderson’s full brother is deceased but I’ve never heard much about his two older half brothers.  I’m thinking one of the older half brothers is also deceased?  I haven’t been able to find out much through google.

That must have been a surprise, however pleasant, for Anderson.

Re: Gloria Vanderbilt Leaves Son Anderson Cooper Bulk Of Her Estate

The day after her death, I saw an interview with Anderson Cooper where he said he would not be getting any money or anything else from his mother’s estate. He said he had been aware of that for years...his mother thought if her children knew they would be inheriting a large estate, they would not have had an incentive to work hard on their own. Who knows what the actual reality is. I do know Anderson doesn’t appear to need anything to maintain himself; he makes a boatload of money on CNN.

@Jordan2    Sometimes no matter how hard you try there is one child who just won’t budge an inch, creates conflict & refuses to work things out. I know because that happened in my family too.

Family situations can get complicated & very personal. We never really know what goes on behind closed doors. I’m sure Gloria Vanderbilt had her reasons & it wasn’t easy for her to come to the decision she made.

it was her money to do with what she wanted, but i do find this to be a bit sad.

Considering I have no idea what had transpired between them, I am not in any position, (and neither is anyone else) to judge

I think Gloria's son should have reconnected wiith his

Mother or at least tried. Anyway we don't know. I can

definitely understand why one child may inherit all

or more than the other child.

Maybe Anderson will donate what he gets or he can

even build something in her name to help people.

Hum, didn't realize Gloria had 3 sons. Wait, she only had 2 sons. Anderson said on CNN there is now no one else who knows him from when he was little. He feels very lonely.

No surprise about leaveing the bulk to Anderson.

It's  her business.

I won't even pretend to know the dynamics of her relationships with her sons.
