Re: Giuliana Rancic, Kelly Osbourne, confusing!

The only thing GR did wrong was apologize. And with that apology, this show has jumped the shark. And give me a break with saying the remark could be "construed as racist." When I heard "patchouli" and "weed," all I thought of was "aging hippie." That can apply to blacks with dreds, too. Gendaya needs thicker skin and, if Kelly Osborne can't bear to hear her friends' critique. (or won't critique her friends), she SHOULD leave the show. None of this would be happening if Joan were around. And Hollyweird hypocrites wouldn't be saying that it wasn't GR's "place" to have said that because she's not a comedian. BTW, Whoopi: I saw you on TV, expressing your phony outrage, and YOUR hairstyle looked ridiculous.

I haven't read this entire thread but I took her remarks as a swipe at hippies, not blacks.

I read that she apologized (which was gracious of her as the actress was offended, rightly or wrongly) and that the apology was accepted.

Maybe everyone can move on now.

I took it as somewhat of a Rastafarian slur, both racist and stereotyping. Guiliana seems to be competing with Kathy now that the new show has begun. I've never been impressed with her and am even less now.

Come on, "racist and stereotyping."

You can always be offended if you're looking to be.

That was one of the nicer comments I have heard on that show.

Hyacinth

Unless someone has experienced racist comments because they are African American can most of us really understand how hurtful her comments were. I have no right to tell anyone that they just need to let it go. No one on that show has any filter and it's a show designed to be insulting and crass. Without Joan it will probably go away soon. We can only hope.

Guiliana wants it go away, but it isn't. The story is still being heavily covered.

Honestly, I don't care who stays or who goes from this show... Let's face it, it was all about Joan and without her it's a big 'who cares'. Even when she was around, I only watched it occasionally.

That about sums it up for me!

Re: Giuliana Rancic, Kelly Osbourne, confusing!

I suppose anything negative comment can be construed as racism, if that's what you are looking for. I did not see any racism in Guiliana's comment. I thought she was referring to hippies. I think Guiliana was trying to take a page from Joan River's book and she had the misfortune of being called out for it by that young woman. And that fact that Guiliana was totally wrong about the girl's hairstyle certainly didn't help. It added fire to the racism charge. She was making a joke that had no basis in reality. The girl (who I never even heard of before this) is gorgeous and her hairstyle was lovely and quite artistic. There was no hippie, Rastafarian, weed smoking look to it at all. I don't know what Guiliana was thinking but I don't think it was a racist comment. I do think this incident is proof that the show should have ended when Joan passed away. Kathy Griffin isn't the new Joan, she's out of element and more importantly, not funny at all. Giuliana tried to fill the void and fell flat on her face.

Re: Giuliana Rancic, Kelly Osbourne, confusing!

I've not read but a couple of the comments so this may be a repeat.

Is Kelly only upset because Zendaya is a friend of her's? Because Kelly laughs like a fool at a lot of the rude, mean things said by others and laughed foolishly at a lot of what Joan said.

G's comment was ignorant.

G apologized, Zendaya accepted it and that should be the end of it.

The ladies on The View are ignorant. Aishia should be embarrassed about what she said. An 18 YO chose to take the high road while Aishia chose the low. Who is she to tell anyone to "stay in her lane?" Maybe she should take her own advice.

The comment wouldn't have been okay no matter who made it.

Awhile back one of the younger Jenner girls got dreadlocks and on the show G called the look urban and edgy.

Fashion Police was never a show I enjoyed, even with Joan Rivers. I found it to be too mean spirited. Joan Rivers, being Joan Rivers, could get away with whatever she said, but where does G and Kelly come off putting people down? Are they so beautiful they can criticize others? I think not. And that George guy was a laughing fool. He contributed nothing, but laughed his crazy head off at any single word that Joan uttered.

Joan: We'll be right back.

George: Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

Fashion Police has to go to its final resting place.

I'm sorry but this is hypocritical. If the comment was out of line for G to make, it should be out of line for anyone to make, including Joan.

Joan wasn't "so beautiful" either.

The nature of the show just isn't nice.
