Re: Gifting to Neighbor’s Children

Absolutely break that tradition!   If they can't be bothered to thank you for the presents especially!!!

Re: Gifting to Neighbor’s Children

I give Christmas gifts to my tenants' two children.  The girl is 14 and the boy is 10.  It gets more and more difficult deciding what to get each year.  They have been my tenants since the boy was an infant.

True if someone is invited to a birthday party then a gift is appropriate. As far as Christmas, if you want to stop then I  wouldn't feel bad about it. Like you said they are growing up and you don't really see them all that much.

I agree with the family gift idea.  Give them a basket of things the whole family can enjoy.  This way you don't have to figure out what each child likes.

Re: Gifting to Neighbor’s Children

I would send the family a nice Christmas card with a personal note.

None of them will confront you (unless they are clueless) about not sending a gift.

If you feel you must, an Amazon gift card is always welcome and useful.

Forgot to mention that we give the parents a very generous check at Christmas for their help with the lawn and shoveling and know they are there if needed.

The kids are too old for that.  A family goody basket is more in order.

I'd give a big old tin of popcorn or cookies!

Re: Gifting to Neighbor’s Children

@Biftu   Unless we were VERY close I never would have started the gift giving in the first place..but you did, for this year if you felt the need to gift something  bake some cookies, coffee cake and put on a nice tray, wrapped with a pretty bow or Hobby Lobby had nice paper/alumunim boxes with holiday images for the lids...they are very nice.

If you don't bake, I am guessing your town has a bakery where you could pick up something they would like.

I understand feeling a bit guilty about stopping the gifts but next year, you won't even have to think about it.  Y

Years ago we quit giving birthday gifts to our grandkids we NEVER heard from them.
