I have a family emember getting married next month in Montreal. I live in Ohio and have already sent my regrets.

I would still like to give a gift of money. Do I send a check?

I don't want to send cash for sure and I don't know what stores they shop for a gift card.

Re: Gift for Canadian wedding

Any U.S. dollars that you send, even in check form, will have to be converted to Canadian dollars, whatever the exchange rate is.

@Nataliesgramma How about a gift card to the Bay....that is a really nice store or amazon.

American Express gift card. Looks beautiful and gets sent in a lovely gift envelope.

You can order online or thru AMEX customer service. No need to be a card holder but if you are, they offer discount pricing.

Make sure you ask about the exchange rate USD  to CAD.

Yes, they will benefit from the exchange rate.

Check the exchange rate before sending a gift card.  If you are thinking of a present, even though a gift card is always welcome as long as there is no expiration date, Nova Scotian Crystal has beautiful things.

The next time that I hear salt and ice together, it better be in a margarita!

Wire money (money gram) is quick and easy too.  Yes, they benefit when the dollar exchange is higher for US versus Canadian dollar which is most often.  I typically wire money to my daughter back in Canada for birthdays/xmas.

Out of country check is nearly impossible to cash.

Gift cards bought in the US typically do not work in Canada or vice versa.  Check with gift card vendor 1st.
