Gift Giving Confessions/Suggestions/Tips

My best gift giving tip (took me MANY years to learn this!) is to not over-think the gift choice! ASK people what they want and no matter what you think about the gift, get them what they want. I went from thinking gift cards were impersonal to thinking they are wonderful!

If you are getting something "they would never give themselves" think--Is it because they would never want one? If they have 132 teddy bears, they will probably love number 133.

I have been guilty in the past of worrying more about being creative than about what someone wants. Gift giving isn't to show how cleaver and thoughtful YOU are; it is to please the recipient. I will confess I have found myself wrapped up in this sometimes. Not that I was consciously doing this, but it took me one painful episode to realize this can happen sometimes when you worry too much. Then of course there are people that are hard to buy for, and some will gripe no matter WHAT you get. That's a different deal.

I am saying this because I used to really stress out over getting something that would send someone over the moon--it's too easy to miss the moon! I now get them something simple they will like.
