Re: Getting recorded calls from irs

Go to this website: nomorobo.com to see if your phone number is compatible with nomorobo. It works by simultaneously ringing the phone call first through them to see if its a robo call (scamming phone calls) and searching their data base and if its a legitimate call, it will ring a 2nd time on your phone. If its a scam call, it rings once to your phone then stops.

This is a FREE service and it has blocked so many of these calls; even in heavy election years it will block calls; you can add to their list also in case a scam call goes through by mistake.

Watch the video too for a brief explanation on how it works.

Re: Getting recorded calls from irs

After hearing about these calls for months, I finally got one.  Well, they left a message on my answering machine at home.  What idiots!  I laughed through the entire playback before deleting the message.

There are times when you must speak, not because you are going to change the opposing side, but because if you do not speak, they have changed you.

This scam has been publicized far and wide, I don't know how anyone could have missed it.  We even had public service announcements on our local TV.

It is a scam.  The IRS will always send a letter through the mail.

My elderly mother got one of these calls several months back. Luckily she is with it enough not to give out any info. The call leaves a number to call and threatens jail time. You then call the number and they got you! I feel badly for the elderly that are preyed upon.

They wouldn't tangle with this ol bag I'd turn them into the Attorney General's office and cause a heap O suffering.

I kicked fanny all over the place when Kmart kept putting off paying my husband his pension. I first called the Attorney General they turned it over to Washington. D.C Dept of Labor.   2 wks. later our account was credited.

I received a similar call a few months ago - from a man with an accent - claiming to be from the IRS (not a robocall). I told him where to go. NEVER speak to - or take seriously - any phone call or email from someone claiming u owe money ---- or anyone asking u to wire or mail money. Also, don't necessarily take seriously letters u receive in the mail. I get 3 or 4 SCAM calls a day.

Stating they are filing a case against me then the recorded message left a number for me to call.  Is this some type of scam? What can I do to stop these calls?  Thanks.  There is no reason I would be in trouble with the IRS.

I'm assuming these are "robo calls", no? If there is someone there to talk with, tell them to call me and I can entertain them for as long as they wish with their scam.

If you ain't into taking to scammers?  Hang up and maybe think of buying a Call Blocker soon.

That's what I was going to say. We received two of these calls about a month between each other. I never answered them. You would get a notice by mail if there really were any issues. We never did. SCAM

You can block one number and then they call from another.  You'll run yourself ragged trying to block all the numbers they call from.

I personally have found the Do not Call registry a complete waste of time.  Both my cell and my home numbers are on that list and we still get calls all the time.  We just don't bother to answer the phone if we don't recognize the number.

I tried to sign up and use nomorerobo and while it says it's compatible with TWC, one of the steps is missing on the TWC website so you can't sign up.  I even called and the CS was able to pull up the necessary icon on her end but we never could get this to work.
