Getting frustrated and a little scared

As some of you know I had some teeth pulled on Monday. It was done as oral surgery under IV sedation. The dentist has me on Keflex every 6 hours to prevent infection, and Vicodin every 4 hours for pain. Its now been 3 days since the surgery and I decided to stop taking the Vicodine and see if I could step down to somthing like Tylenol. This did not go well this resulted in me waking up every couple hours in severe pain until i caved and took the vicodin again.

Am I exprecting too much too soon? Or is it normal to still be in pain 3 days later?

P.S. My follow up appt. is on Monday
