That guy is a classic and his music will live on just like George Jones and Hank Williams. The end of an era in country music. Classy guy.
Love Alan Jackson Cody. I have seen him once here a few years back. Great concert! I was lucky to have seen George way back in the 80's twice, before my son was even born. My husband who is his biggest fan was only able to see George once, last year. I know he wishes he was there tonight.

I've seen him in concert several times through the years. Always great.
He also does tv commercials for one of the auto dealers around San Antonio. They are always good, and he always looks great!

George is one of my faves too .....I agree, the cowboy hats are dwindling ...At least .Alan Jackson and George and Tim McGraw and Garth Brooks and Merle and Toby Keith and Brad Paisley,Trace Adkins and Jason Aldeen still wear them.(:Vince is one of my favorites too. George Straight, the last of the cowboy hat guys. They all wear skinny pants, tennis shoes and muscle shirts now. Even an earring and tons of tatoos. The world, she is a changing.

The kids just returned from the concert after driving all night. There were four of them taking turns driving. I didn't know this, thought they were spending the night in a hotel.
The concert was, of course, awesome lasting nine hours from 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm. Performers included Asleep at the Wheel, Miranda Lambert, Sheryl Crow, Faith Hill, Vince Gill, Kenny Chesney, Martina McBride, Jason Aldean. That's all I can remember. George Strait's son Bubba also performed on stage with him.
The concert broke attendance records with over 105,000 attendees. Previous highest attendance was the Rolling Stones in 1981 at the Louisiana Superdome.

I love Alan Jackson and Vince Gill too of course.
Can't say I've ever been a George Strait fan although I do have a couple of his CDs and really liked some of his songs. But for the most part I find his voice kind of blah and boring. Not that I totally dislike him like some others I could name. Just chiming in to say I much prefer to of the guys mentioned in this thead, Alan and Vince and a whole bunch of other better singers, writers and musicians too.
But ole George sure had a good run!
