Gave In and Turned on the Heat

I was so chilly lastnight that I had two Berkshire blankets on. We checked the forecast this morning and it's not going to get above 60* all week. DH turned in the heat. It feels a little early, but oh well.

On the other hand, our dog loves being out on cool, crisp fall mornings. He's getting old and slowing down, but then he gets outside and a spark of puppy comes out. 🍁🌻🎃🐾

Re: Gave In and Turned on the Heat

Ours isn't on yet.  The temps in upper SC are in the 70's and going into the 40's for the next few nights.  We will turn the heat on for the older dogs.  The wood floors tend to be cold and we try to keep things comfortable for them.  Of course the comfy throws are coming out too.

If my dog doesn't like you, neither do I.

Re: Gave In and Turned on the Heat

@Jk9 I live in the midlands of SC, and our temps for the next 2 nights will be in the 40's...yay! We'll probably get up in the middle of the night and turn on heat--mostly for our two elderly cats. The dog never gets cold...Lab/Great Pyrenees mix, so he's made for cooler weather and he loves it! Our back stoop is brick, and he'll lay on that for hours when it's cold outside.

Re: Gave In and Turned on the Heat

MIne's been on a few times already.....mostly in the morning just one cycle to warm things up....but now I think it'll be on all week here...(North Western PA, temps forecast in 40-50's during day, rain off and on, and possible 30s at night.)

It was really pretty this morning...nice fall day...but it's gloomy now and chilly outside.....

I have a philosophy....As long as I'm above ground, I'm going to be warm, I don't care what it costs....I'll just not spend on something else that I don't need...like more stuff from shopping channels!!!!

Re: Gave In and Turned on the Heat

Most of this last week, we were at our place at the lake.  During the day time is was a beautiful 83 to 85 degrees.  At night the temp fell into the 40's.  We turned the heat on during the night.

Since we have come home, we haven't had the heat  or AC on at all.  Our home is far better insulated than the lake place.

It's supposed to rain all day today, but the temp is 58.  It's supposed to be in the mid 60's all next week, with night lows in the mid 50's.

I miss summer already, especially my garden and fresh tomatoes.  If I am cold, I turn on the heat.  I know it costs money, but oh well.

I can stand to be hot, but not cold.  Thankfully, once the house is warmed, it stays that way and the heat doesn't run 24/7.  That will change when the weather gets colder.

Oh, how I hate winter.  I dread what's comming.

Re: Gave In and Turned on the Heat

In Nebraska, we had our first Freeze Warning last night. And the weather reports were accurate! I had my furnace set to 66 and it finally kicked on about 6:45 AM - just in time to warm up the house before I was ready to get out of bed!  The plus? We should only have two days of this cold snap and then return to nice 70's in the day and 35-40's at night. Nice!

Re: Gave In and Turned on the Heat

I gave in a couple weeks ago just to get the chill out and discovered it wasn't working.  I'm glad I discovered that and got it fixed before it was actually cold out. This week was back to AC.

Re: Gave In and Turned on the Heat

Today, it's to be 95, it's been hot all week. I open the window at night and usually at 11am I turn on the a/c.

This morning at 6:00 My Reilley and I went for a walk, he loved it!

My dear sister and I never turned on the heat until the 1st of November, I'll keep up our tradition.

Here in SoCal we're having some very warm days ... high of 95 today.   Ugh.

If I knew how ...  I would be very happy to send you an email attachment of about 20 degrees of our heat.

If only it were that easy to regulate temperatures!  LOL  Woman LOL
