I know this is a really late response, but I had to say that at our once-and-only garage sale, we offered a large, Martha Stewart garden kit (not the kind on QVC, it was elaborate) for $100, which was a very low price. A woman walked up and offered $5. On offers like these, I decided to take what we did not want to Goodwill.

Many people who go to garage sales offer super low, because they will re-sell them.

our city supports an annual Garage Sale in Sept.  they advertise and promote. You can register your street or address if you like...and newspaper will publish it. This has been going on for 15/20. years or more.  I haven't done it, as it is too much work for us. We donate our items, and take off taxes,which benefits us more.  We did have one once on our own with daughters in late 1990's , and it was fun!  I'm just not organized enough.  Everything needs to be priced.  Then sit out there all day.  Then pack it all back up, clean, and then drop off unsold goods at goodwill.  It is fun to visit with neighbors though, who always show up!

@Maizie Green   I don't do Facebook, I defriended myself years go, lol. But of course my daughters and grands are on it. They sell things thru Facebook often, and sell right away for excellent price.   In fact I had a Nordic Track commercial treadmill, I wanted to get rid of.  My granddaughter sold it on  Facebook in 2 days from1100 bux!  Facebook I think I surpassed many other social media sites for selling.  Imo

If having a GS ask yourself: Why do people go to GS? Answer: To get a bargain.

And check prices at your local thrift store. If I can get a pair of jeans for $3.00 at a Thrift I am not paying $5.00 at a GS. Also get rid of kids and kids w/lemonade stands.

Always,always check your competition. Also Good Signs make a good GS.

@cjm61   Wow!  I envy you.  You seem to have these garage sales down to a science, plus a great time while you're at it.  In my area, potential customers don't just want things cheap, they want them free!  Unfortunately, one time we turned our head on someone and they made off with several items.  

Even when we label something really cheap, like a dollar, they still want to haggle and they will put it down.  Others practically want the items gift wrapped and delivered.  🎁🚛

We now basically just donate.  LOL
