2008 was my surgery. Doctor checked for stones in the ducts. Small incision. Went home groggy the same day. Off work for a week, but I didn't have complications. If you don't feel well -- hold off going back to work too quickly. You don't want to get an infection on the incision. The liver takes over for the gall bladder and there are some things I have trouble digesting now. Meat especially. Don't miss the pain, though.

My daughter is facing this right now and she is pregnant. She has had two really painful attacks and has seen a surgeon. He wants to wait until she has given birth. I am so worried over this. We are going to get a second opinion from a surgeon my GP really recommended. She had a really bad one on Saturday and I am just out of my mind with worry. She has her second opinion tomorrow but it is snowing so much here today that I am pretty sure they won't be opened tomorrow.

This is making me very nervous. Please keep us posted on her. How far along is she?

Hello, Has anyone on this forum had gallbladder surgery, where it is just a few incisions and you go home the same day? I read on another forum that some people started having trouble years later because they did not get the gallstones out of their bile duct. I am facing this surgery soon, but still won't know if I have to have the big incision or the small ones. Thanks

I just had mine out a few weeks ago. Had a very good Dr. who told me everything & had it done by Lap incision. I have 5 tiny incisions. Dr said my GB was so packed, he called in a Gastroenterologist to do an endoscopy to make sure my bile duct was clear. The bile duct had no stones, but a lot of sludge which they cleaned out. They did that the next day.

I was in hospital for 3 days because of that, but no problems w/incisions. I did fine, had no help at home and was driving in about a week. Since I am older, (75) it did take about 10 days for me to get back to my old self, only because I don't think you spring back like you do when you're younger. I think you'll be fine. Good luck.
