Apologies if any of these contributions have already been mentioned in various threads, but I've just read of them, and find them so heartening at this time.  These business people/philanthropists have so stepped up to the plate.  Thankfully that happens in every disaster down through history, but it is so worthy of remarking every time:

Jack Ma, co-founder of the Alibaba Group, is donating $14 million dollars toward development of Covid-19 vaccine.  Additionally, has donated over a million testing kits and six million masks to 54 African countries.

Sheldon Adelson, Las Vegas hotel owner, although his hotels are closed, is going to pay his 10,000 employees their full salaries as though they were still working, for two solid months.

Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan are donating $30 million for relief efforts.

Steve Ballmer, formerly of Microsoft and now owner of L.A. Clippers basketball team, donating $25 million to the cause.

This morning on Today, it was announced Dolly Parton has donated $1 Million.  I've heard of other big donations.

Re: GENEROSITY IS STAGGERING

It's incredibly heartwarming to look around my community and see what people are doing in this strange time: people who love to sew are making masks, kids are drawing inspirational phrases on sidewalks for the people who pass by, local businesses are donating food to hospitals. The virus is keeping us inside, but it's not stopping us from showing our generous spriit. Silver linings everywhere <3

I heard today that The Patriots had their plane go to China and bring back One Million, N95 masks for our first responders.

And for the fans of Amazon, I read that if Bezos would pay his warehouse employees $100,000 a yr...it would cost him 0.017% of his personal wealth.

Not gonna happen.

Thanks for posting this.  I read that Kraft worked with the Gov. of Mass (can’t remember his name) to pull this off when he learned that states were getting outbid on them.  He said he was giving 300,000 of them to NY in respect for what they’ve been dealing with.

Also the owner of the company that makes MLB uniforms says he’s going to start making masks and gowns.  I remember Hanes was going to do this, but ...

I saw a story on the news, the owner of Fanatics are making masks and gowns with the fabric they would have used on baseball jerseys. So medical staffs will be wearing teams they may not be so fond of ( but will become fans)!

Governor of MA is Charlie Baker. Yes some of the N95 masks are going to New York. The rest are desperately needed in MA.
