@heart of savino, You may have a valid complaint but it sure seems to be pick-on service people week around here:/
Do you have your cap-lock key on for a reason?

@heart of savino, I'd call the company & ask.
I called ours to report one of the young men on his cellphone while holding on the back of the moving g'truck.. How stupid was that?

Can you use a can that has the lid attached or not put the lid on on pickup day? We have cans issued by the town. The truck pulls up and picks up the can. The driver doesn't have to leave his seat. It annoys me that some drivers let go of the can midair and it falls and sometimes rolls away. LOL. It's always a treat to see where your can ends up.

Gosh, I don't have a clue. Best to call your collector's office. Waste management practices vary through out the nation.

Didn't know they still had garbage men. In Arizona (I'm guessing most of the state) our plastic cans are given to us by the city and the garbage men sit in a truck, drive up to the curb in front of our house on trash day, push a button and an arm comes out and lifts the can overhead and dumps the contents into the truck. Same with recycling can. I think there is only one guy per truck unless he is training someone. We haven't had aluminum cans with actual trash people who rode on the back of a truck for decades.

we still have garbage men who get off the truck, pick up the cans, and dump the contents into trash truck. same with recycling day. we purchase our own trash cans and recycling bins.

Our cans are issued by the Village. We have a regular trash can and a recycling can for paper and plastic. The driver sits in the truck and then the can is lifted above the truck and emptied. He doesn't really have to get out unless the can is somehow backwards.
Yard waste is a seperate truck that has men that manually load the garbage into the truck. Most people use cans or yard bags.

Our trash in WA is done the same as @bri20 described. The lid is attached to the can. Recycling is handled the same way.
The AZ snowbird home has the strangest, labor-intensive system. There's an underground can with an attached porthole cover about halfway up our driveway. It holds two or three small trash sacks. We can leave up to 10 extra sacks by that contraption for pickup. Trash is picked up two times a week.
