it might be fake and/or they remove it just before burial.

@ValuSkr Interesting and it wouldn't surprise me. I also bet that crown, which seems so casually placed, is firmly attached to the underside of the casket with uncuttable cable.
@Kachina624 I've wondered if the Imperial State Crown on top of the coffin is a replica. The actual crown is priceless - not even insurable, I've read. Why would they take the risk of marching it through London atop the coffin and then letting it sit there in Westminster Hall for many days of public viewing?

@ValuSkr It's very possible it's a replica. I'd be surprised if she even wore the real thing on ceremonial occasions.
It's supposed to have over 3,000 diamonds in addition to the other jewels.

You bring up a very good point .... why would "terrorists" even care about her? She had no power.
Maybe the real question is ... just WHO were the queen's real enemies?

@GoneButNotForgotten Why do you find it disgusting? It has become tradition in my family.

Of course they wouldn't bury the real crown. That makes no sense. The value in so much of these things is the history.

OMG, the conspiracy theories that spring up these days.
You can bet that crown is being guarded every minute. Just because you don't see the security, doesn't mean it isn't there. Just let someone try to even get close enough to touch it.
As for her body not being in the coffin...
Seriously?

Well, it could be the real thing, simply because with all the security .... and then all the people there .... how could anyone grab it and then actually get away?
Only possible to grab the crown (if it wasn't securely fastened, which it is) would be either for a homing pigeon-type bird that could fly, grab it and depart .... or perhaps a drone of some sort. Too many people around to get away.
Having said that .... I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if ALL the royal jewels had an exact duplicate. In fact, I bet the queen special ordered them via QVC during a diamonique special event.

The crown sparkles with nearly 3,000 stones - including 2,868 diamonds, 273 pearls, 17 sapphires, 11 emeralds, and five rubies.

At The King's request, the wreath contains foliage of Rosemary, English Oak and Myrtle (cut from a plant grown from Myrtle in The Queen's wedding bouquet) and flowers, in shades of gold, pink and deep burgundy, with touches of white, cut from the gardens of Royal Residences.
